NDP #Transit critic @JessicaBellTO: The Ford govt is introducing its bill to begin the takeover of the #TTC despite being in negotiations with the City of Toronto.
How can they claim to be negotiating in good faith when they are pushing through this hostile takeover?
Bell: The Minister of Transportation admitted that some of the work the city has already completed for the Downtown Relief Line is no longer usable. That means millions and months of work developing the line are being tossed out and replaced with Ford's back of the napkin plan.
NDP Education critic @maritstiles: Ed. assistants, custodians, clerical workers, library staff, language instructors all play a crucial role in supporting students & keeping our schools safe. Yet *at least* 2,500 of these positions are in jeopardy b/c of Ford's cuts to education.
NDP MPP @DolyBegum: 44/47 municipalities will have their general allocation funds for child care cut in 2019. With childcare costs as much as $20,000/year for some, parents are at breaking point. Why is this govt choosing to make childcare cuts that will make life more expensive?
Begum: All Ford's cuts add up to over $90 million taken from our child care system, and the govt has promised parents a tax credit that doesn’t come close to covering the cost of child care. Then they eliminate the funding that controls child care fees. Parents deserve better.
NDP MPP @CFifeKW: Both Ford and the finance ministerhave refused to reveal who exactly went on their all expenses trip to NYC, and how much it actually cost. If Ford is so sure that his expenses on this trip are above board, why does he continue to hide them? #onpoli
Fife: The yet untold costs of this trip to NYC are just the latest in a pattern from this Premier of using public dollars for his personal priorities, all while claiming that the province can’t afford to provide essential services to Ontarians in need. #onpoli
Fife: Ford claims that we don’t have enough money to fund flood prevention, that we can’t keep teachers in classrooms, and we have to start charging people for health coverage. Yet when he spends public money on himself, he thinks we don’t deserve an explanation. #onpoli

Premier Doug Ford and Health Minister Christine Elliott lied when they said their decision to cancel many public health protections was based on expert advice.
A TIMELINE OF LIES brought to you by Doug Ford's Conservative government:
Doug Ford, Nov. 3: “This framework was developed in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the Public Health Measures Table, local medical officers of health, and other health system experts.” #FordLied#Covid19#Covid19Ontario
FACT CHECK TIMELINE: As Ontario reaches yet another record high number of new #COVID19 cases, Doug Ford needs to explain why he and his govt have been minimizing the impact of COVID’s second wave on Ontario families, and cutting back on public health measures...

October 6 — 548 new COVID-19 cases reported in Ontario.
Today, the courts ruled against Doug Ford’s cut to OHIP coverage for Ontarians when they’re travelling.
This makes SEVEN court battles lost by Doug Ford and his PC govt, wasting precious public dollars defending his cutting agenda. #onpoli
There’s a lot to unpack here, first of all, the ‘free market’ would not have the business opportunity to operate COVID-19 tests at a high price if the gov’t was on top of testing – but they’re leaving people behind.
Everyday Ontarians are waiting hours in line to get their COVID-19 test. While the gov’t has been saying for months that “they’re hammering away at testing” but experts disagree: ontariondp.ca/news/fact-chec…
If testing was as easy and accessible as it should be with a public health system, there would not be a market for $400 testing kits for those that can afford it. Demand the gov’t invest in testing now: ontariondp.ca/demand-covid-1…
