This week, we learned Trump is considering granting clemency to disgraced former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich.

Sholom Rubashkin, the former CEO of America's largest kosher meat processing plant, was convicted in 2009 of fraud charges.

Rubashkin's legal troubles began in 2008 when a federal immigration raid discovered nearly 400 undocumented workers at his plant in Iowa.
Interviews with three former senior White House officials reveal for the first time the critical role Jared Kushner played in winning clemency for Rubashkin. The details offer a window into the ad-hoc personality-driven way decisions are made in this administration.
The Rubashkin commutation is one of the earliest examples of Kushner's success in persuading the President to make a decision that appeared to some in the White House to be a blatant example of cronyism.
The Rubashkin commutation also showed Trump the transactional benefit of Presidential pardons and commutations—and how they might be used going forward.

The media failed in the case of Jeffrey Epstein, over and over again. In the process, they re-victimized Epstein’s victims.

Event planner Stephanie Winston Wolkoff has emerged as a witness for investigators. A subpoena she received last month asks her to hand over a variety of information, including evidence of expenditures that were "wasteful, mismanaged, and/or improperly provided private benefit."
Of note: The subpoena asks not just for communications between the inaugural committee and business entities connected to President Trump, but also communications between Wolkoff and Trump family members including Ivanka, Don Jr, Eric, and Jared Kushner.

1) With the recent twist of events regarding the Jussie Smollet case, Chicago's corruption is front and center once again. Many are praising Rahm Emanuel after his great performance in acting as if he had no prior knowledge of the decision made in the Smollet case
2) Emanuel began his political career as the finance director for Illinois Public Action Council (IPAC) in the 1980s. He worked alongside now Congresswoman (1999) Jane Schakowsky, wife of IPAC's founder and Clinton Operative, Robert Creamer.

THREAD: After seeing this tweet from Politico, I decided to search for tweets by several mainstream news orgs and see how they use the terms “likeable,” “unlikable,” and “likability” when applied to men vs. women. The results are...stark.
First of all, those words are used far more often to refer to women. Politico did note in 2014 that Hillary Clinton—who at the time had a favorable rating in the 60s—was now “likable enough” vs 2008.
If you’re Politico and reporting that a male politician—former Illinois Mayor Rod Blahojevich—has been found guilty of trying to sell a US Senate seat like, though, it’s important to note that the jurors found him likable, criminality aside.
