Canadians should keep their eye on Hong Kong.

China is actively seeking to demolish democracy in HK. They are doing the same in Canada by using economic sanctions to push farmers to the brink of bankruptcy.

China is “inadvertently” helping CPC by sanctioning Canadian farmers.
Why? Because the Liberal government refuses to operate by anything but the rule of law, thus preventing the release of Huawei Executive Meng Wanzhou, and refusing to cave to China’s demands. Much like HK citizens refuse to cave to China’s demands.
If you haven’t kept up to date on HK protests, HK citizens are protesting China’s attempt to impose extradition of HK citizens (HK is a democracy) to China for criminal offences. China is a totalitarian dictatorship, unconcerned about human rights and the rule of law.
Protesters have taken to the streets and now have shut down the airport. This is a fight for their lives, freedom and for democracy itself.

China has used triad gangs, excessive police violence and international intimidation to quell the protests.

The international effort by China and Chinese nationals to suppress democratic support for HK citizen protesters has reached Canada.

Brazen interference in Canadian democratic freedoms of Canadian citizens on Canadian soil. Chinese nationals attempting to suppress Canadian freedom to support HK citizens.

Why the Canadian media isn’t frantically amplifying this is mind boggling.

But take a step back.
Maybe it’s not so unexpected after all.

China uses economic pressures to gain compliance of foreign nations to change their policies to China’s benefit and in support of China’s ambitions and goals. It’s part of their Belt & Road Initiative strategies.

But Canada isn’t a BRI signatory? Or is it?

In 2012, Harper signed a FIPA with China. In 2014 it was ratified. Most Canadians are blissfully unaware of the implications. Harper put Canadian sovereignty at risk without provincial or citizen knowledge.

Canada is prevented from sovereign action by the FIPA trade deal.

Harper tied Canada’s hands, FOR 31 YEARS.

Our national security is compromised.

Our government can’t even discuss the situation because Harper signed a FIPA preventing disclosure.

Allow Chinese government linked companies to take over Canadian companies or suffer debilitating economic rulings made in arbitration. That’s Canada’s future until 2045.

Scheer is well aware of this, so his rhetoric regarding a strong stance is self-puffery & machismo at best.
So the reason behind Trudeau’s support for TMX when climate change is impacting Canada more than many nations. China and FIPA.

Protest the pipeline. China can sue for lost profits, & probably has.

Try to prevent Chinese procurement of Canadian land & resources. China will sue.
FIPA is the reason Andrew Scheer would repeal Bill C-69.

Now we know who Conservatives are working for: China.

A CPC PM will eliminate Canadian sovereignty, or whatever little we have left. Harper sold Canada out from under our feet. Scheer intends to deliver it on a platter.
NDP & GPC have no concept of foreign relations. They just asked Europeans to NOT sign CETA that helps Canada diversify trade & reduce dependence upon Chinese investment. They can not be given governance in such a precarious predicament.

LPC has increased foreign investment in Canada. This protects Canadian interests, since the same restrictions on Canadian sovereignty are not part of CETA, NAFTA/USMCA, or TPP.

Unsurprisingly, Trump is using Canada to fight his trade battle with China.
Canada & our interests & sovereignty are merely a pawn in Trump’s game of checkers with Xi. A coherent and well thought out plan wouldn’t sacrifice your largest trading partner. Or is Trump trying to weasel US demands in with China’s? He didn’t get what he wanted in NAFTA 2.0.
Is this how US plans to treat Canada in trade? Are Trump and Xi carving up Canada like a third world country; “a peripheral supplier of resources?”

Everything assumed about Trudeau’s actions (or seemingly inaction) with China is obscured by the non-disclosure clause.
Harper liked the non-disclosure clause. Saudi military procurement, China FIPA. The man liked his secrets. But selling Canada out from under our feet is too much.

That is CPC. No patriotism, no loyalty, no care except for personal prosperity.

CPC can NOT win election!
And in case you thought China was implementing BRI because they are benevolent...

Watch the news. This is getting ugly fast. Remember, Hong Kong is a democracy.

It amazes me how oblivious people are to the danger this mob has been to Canadian democracy and to the rule of law.

I’m watching some Ottawa citizen recommend we start a dialogue with this mob.

Clueless, absolutely clueless about the intent of the mob.
No. PMJT should not meet with this mob. They threatened his life because he dared to make decisions they don’t like.

What planet do these peaceniks live on? It’s an alternate reality & it’s as fantastical and magical as the occupiers alternate reality.

Ok. So I’m trying to watch CPAC and HOC debate about the EA.

In between aneurysms I’m foaming at the mouth at the level of gaslighting going on.

I so want parliament to change the rules of discourse. Extreme gaslighting should NOT receive Parliamentary privilege.
So what’s driving me mental? The attempt by CPC and Bloc to legitimize the people who performed an occupation of Ottawa and the blockades of border trade routes as legitimate protesters.

I’ve had it with gaslighting and people who try to create alternate realities.
I’m insulted by the unscrupulous mendacity that CPC and Bloc MPs are offering up as commentary. This level of deceit is beyond acceptable, focussed on altering reality for the Canadian public and on legitimization of a fringe hostile mob seeking to effect a coup.

I just watched Noa Mendelsohn Aviv refer to the compromise of civil liberties like freedom of expression on CBC.

Not once have I seen occupiers be denied their right to peaceful protest and to express their opinions. But I’ve witnessed these occupiers torture Ottawa residents.
I’ve heard them make threats against a democratically elected government, attack journalists, flout Ontario mask restrictions causing an entire mall to shut down and put people out of work. I’ve witness horns honking day and night in an effort to torture residents and MPs.
Extortion of policy changes using torturous noise assaults is a criminal offence in Canada.

What about the civil liberties of Ottawans?

Do they count? Or is it just religious extremists & Q’Anon nuts who garner support for their civil liberty to perform a coup?

I keep trying to convey to people that left libertarians and left anarchists want exactly the same thing as far right libertarians. Anarchy.

Both want to eliminate liberalism as competition. And with that to eliminate democracy.

Liberalism is democracy. The Overton window Canada had from 1950-2000 was a narrow set of acceptable beliefs and values based on welfare state social liberalism and humanism.

Where conservatives were progressive and socialists were centre left.

What purpose does it serve to make this tweet?

How does it add knowledge to the situation currently unfolding in Ottawa?

It doesn’t it’s a distraction and an attempt to hijack the narrative to focus on race related problems.

And I’m getting tired of it. Real tired!
The Ottawa occupation is not racially motivated.

It’s been abundantly and blatantly clear that this truck convoy was a sloppily veiled attempt at a coup d’état by a bunch of delusional Q’Anon & Dominionists who live in an alternate reality who hijacked a truckers protest.
While many of the participants and most organizers are known racists or support racist nationalist policies, this is not a specifically racist gathering.

It’s an attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected government and create economic and political chaos.

This is an old thread but relevant to the current situation.

It describes the mindset of the group occupying cities and blocking borders. It also defines the motives of those funding this nightmare.

While many believe this is a fringe movement, it’s not.
A large portion of rural residents and a significant number of urban residents have adopted this belief system and its values across Canada.

It’s called libertarianism: all restrictions should be removed & each individual makes their own choice based on personal responsibility.
This belief has been thoroughly adopted by The Liberty Coalition Canada among other organizations and ideologies. LCC has made removing Covid mandates one of its demands.

The vast majority of members are far right Christians.
