It’s been abundantly and blatantly clear that this truck convoy was a sloppily veiled attempt at a coup d’état by a bunch of delusional Q’Anon & Dominionists who live in an alternate reality who hijacked a truckers protest.
While many of the participants and most organizers are known racists or support racist nationalist policies, this is not a specifically racist gathering.
It’s an attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected government and create economic and political chaos.
All in an attempt to destroy trust in democratic institutions and bring about anarchy. The effects of this occupation, the failure to address it & the eventual invocation of the Emergencies Act will be the focus of attention, long after the trucks & insurrectionists are cleared.
Because it’s about a power struggle. Not racism.
As an indigenous woman I’m frustrated when that’s the ONLY lens radical progressives use to view the world.
I expect radical left BIPOC people to view every political issue with that lens. Although I IMHO that’s unhealthy.
But BIPOC ultimately seeks the same anarchy the occupiers desire.
The left seeks removal of the federal power to dismantle colonial structures, not restore it like the right.
Anarchists don’t care how collapse of social order & rule of law comes about, just that it does.
Opportunists will shamelessly hijack any cause that gets them closer to fulfilling their agenda.
But what’s the agenda of privileged progressives in promoting this event as a commentary on racial relations in Canada? Why are they focussed on race when this issue is about power?
From my perspective, the prevalent demographics of many of these radical leftists attempting to redirect the narrative is young social justice warrior. One of the most politically malleable groups of people on the planet. Inexperienced with deception, they’re easy to gaslight.
Idealistic and committed to changing the world. Passionate about restoring justice and eradicating poverty, racism, sexism, homophobia and xenophobia. Wreaked with guilt over past and current systemic disadvantages built into the foundations of society. Well meaning and trusting.
I was once part of that demographic. Idealism is a powerful drug. You feel powerful and able to make a difference. And you can.
But this demographic is also plagued by lack of vision. They see perfection as the only option. Utopia is their single focus & agenda.
They often have limited comprehension of how policy works and how to predict the actual effects of the policies they demand. Their expectations for social change are unrealistic, believing revolutionary change can happen by the end of next week if politicians would just listen.
They lack the knowledge of how the Westminster Parliamentary system is supposed to work and prefer to throw the baby out with the bath water and just install a purer version of Marxist socialism (democratic socialism) and be done with western democracy.
Frequently amplifying the belief that a proportional representation electoral system should replace the “archaic” First Past the Post representation by population. Incorrectly believing “rep by pop” is inferior to PR.
Propaganda is quite effective on this demographic sadly.
Most have not held positions of authority and the power this ideological belief system bestows on them is intoxicating.
Ahhh! To be young, foolish and gullible again.
I’ll pass thanks.
But this demographic is powerful, influential and brazen.
They believe they have the answers to all problems. If only everyone would view the world through their lens, all could be fixed and the globe could celebrate world peace, climate recovery, the absence of social problems, UBI; utopia.
They also want to use force on the public.
They haven’t figured out this is not a realistic expectation because there will always be others who see the world through a different more individualistic lens; freedom of thought.
I was in my early thirties before realizing that ideals are unattainable guides, not road maps.
Some people never give up their fantasy of achieving utopian bliss.
But those of us who have a more realistic lens recognize the gaslighting that’s been heaped on this demographic is extensive and manipulative.
Youth has its benefits. Your body typically works much better.
Passion and energy are there in abundance.
But wisdom and experience are absent.
Wisdom is developed over time and through repeated experience, observation and self reflection.
You need both passion and wisdom to make change. Passion without wisdom is just foolhardy.
Many youth still think self reflection means looking in the mirror. It hasn’t even crossed their minds that they may be being used to further an anarchist agenda.
Meaning, they can often be as deluded as Dominionist Christians who’ve also been indoctrinated with disinformation.
Case in point, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association has proclaimed the invoking of the Emergency Act as a power grab and inappropriate use of legislative power.
WTF?!
The convoy planners released an MOU demanding the dissolving of parliament and power be given to them.
Last time I checked, an unelected mob of people demanding the elected leader and governing party be removed is sedition, not protest.
But not according to CCLA. They’re suing the govt for invoking Emergency Act powers to enable police to dismantle the occupation of Ottawa.
A mix of domestic and foreign occupiers have refused to leave until their demands are met, including the removal of the PM and governing party.
That’s not peaceful, free speech nor legal. It’s an attempted coup by a domestic and foreign deluded mob.
All protesters have the right to peaceful protest. Not intimidating occupation and threats of violent overthrow of the recently elected federal legitimate authority.
So how does CCLA see that LPC overstepped power when the life of the PM has been credibly threatened by a mob?
CCLA isn’t what we thought it was. Noa Mendelsohn Aviv doesn’t believe we should limit freedom of expression. At all.
But Canada has hate speech legislation & laws against sedition. Aviv believes Canada should change laws to permit criticism of leaders.
The attached video confirms her expectation of civil liberty reflect the removal of limits on speech. So an occupation by foreign and domestic occupiers is just freedom of expression.
I disagree. Threats of murder, hanging, extrajudicial charges of treason.
That’s not acceptable democratic criticism. Ever. It’s stochastic terrorism.
Another thing I noticed about CCLA, is the composition of the board of directors.
I expected to find labour union representatives, social justice leaders, labour lawyers and leftie progressives.
Instead I found business leaders and corporate lawyers who defend businesses, a few who have direct connections to Stephen Harper during his term as PM.
This is not free expression. It’s propaganda, pseudoscience, gaslighting, extreme disinformation, stochastic terrorism.
So it should come as no surprise CCLA is now promoting Canadian freedom of expression the same way Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) does. As some derivative of American absolute freedom speech.
Where this is the norm.
JCCF has promoted disinformation, and sued several provincial governments and the federal government over Covid restrictions and mandates.
JCCF considers hate speech free speech. They have an organization of lawyers attempting to rewrite hate speech legislation or remove it.
And a board of directors at CCLA that probably supports these efforts, considering the stance CCLA has taken on the Emergencies Act.
The truck convoy was NEVER a protest. It was an attempted coup from day one when the MOU was delivered.
It’s never been peaceful. Horns were a form of torture. The demands were always for power to be handed over to an unelected minority of treasonous seditionists who harassed residents, the homeless and local business owners.
Canada is a tolerant, diverse, pluralist free nation.
But tolerance is not allowing a mob to overthrow the government and terrorize and harass Ottawans. That’s stupid.
Take note when you’re being gaslit and lied to. Know when democratic institutions have been overtaken and used to amplify propaganda and disinformation.
It’s occurring right now.
The expectation to permit an ochlocratic mob intent on seizing power to terrorize and immobilize several cities and shut borders, while also planning to murder law enforcement and the PM is not a form of expression that deserves to be heard.
The federal government does NOT owe this group of miscreants spouting falsehoods and propaganda and making threats a moment of its time.
These people deserve to be shunned and shamed.
So do the politicians, political parties, & public institutions who enable or support them.
That’s CPC, UCP, SK party, MBPC, ONPC, and for some libertarian reason, the Bloc party and CAQ.
It includes JCCF, CCLA, and every other organization trying to gaslight the nation that this isn’t an emergency.
We just watched J6 supporters try to gaslight Americans, blaming Antifa for violence, and claiming it was just a “protest.”
The exact same “Big Lie” then followed by denial of any wrongdoing is being conducted now.
I know the difference between truth and utter bullshit.
So should every Canadian.
Bullshit attracts flies and smells to high heaven.
Truth is easy to discern in this case.
Our nation was attacked by enemies of the state. No citizen or foreigner has the freedom to destroy our nation with a mob.
Do you think Canadians are dumb?
What we need to do is inform the seditionists and enemies of Canadian democracy that we will not allow them to gaslight us anymore!
Start with the politicians supporting this crap! Let them know they are done in politics.
Canadians will not permit sedition disguised as protest.
We do not want anarchy. Over 50% voted for the parties who will approve the invocation of the EA. And the senate will approve it as well.
Then, when Ottawa is cleared, the investigation of this coup begins.
And while we are generally polite as Canadians, we are not going to be pushed around by domestic and foreign “libertarians” who want to grab power through force and gaslighting.
I believe all are willingly contribute extra taxes to construct prisons to house all the traitors.
Most would gladly donate extra if it means protecting our democracy.
It isn’t about the PM or LPC.
It’s about respecting the democratic choices made by the majority. Which is called democracy.
Canadians know what democracy is. That’s why we love this place so much.
And there isn’t any foreign or domestic traitorous faction of extremists that’s going to change that.
Ok. So I’m trying to watch CPAC and HOC debate about the EA.
In between aneurysms I’m foaming at the mouth at the level of gaslighting going on.
I so want parliament to change the rules of discourse. Extreme gaslighting should NOT receive Parliamentary privilege.
So what’s driving me mental? The attempt by CPC and Bloc to legitimize the people who performed an occupation of Ottawa and the blockades of border trade routes as legitimate protesters.
I’ve had it with gaslighting and people who try to create alternate realities.
I’m insulted by the unscrupulous mendacity that CPC and Bloc MPs are offering up as commentary. This level of deceit is beyond acceptable, focussed on altering reality for the Canadian public and on legitimization of a fringe hostile mob seeking to effect a coup.
I just watched Noa Mendelsohn Aviv refer to the compromise of civil liberties like freedom of expression on CBC.
Not once have I seen occupiers be denied their right to peaceful protest and to express their opinions. But I’ve witnessed these occupiers torture Ottawa residents.
I’ve heard them make threats against a democratically elected government, attack journalists, flout Ontario mask restrictions causing an entire mall to shut down and put people out of work. I’ve witness horns honking day and night in an effort to torture residents and MPs.
Extortion of policy changes using torturous noise assaults is a criminal offence in Canada.
What about the civil liberties of Ottawans?
Do they count? Or is it just religious extremists & Q’Anon nuts who garner support for their civil liberty to perform a coup?
Liberalism is democracy. The Overton window Canada had from 1950-2000 was a narrow set of acceptable beliefs and values based on welfare state social liberalism and humanism.
Where conservatives were progressive and socialists were centre left.
A large portion of rural residents and a significant number of urban residents have adopted this belief system and its values across Canada.
It’s called libertarianism: all restrictions should be removed & each individual makes their own choice based on personal responsibility.
This belief has been thoroughly adopted by The Liberty Coalition Canada among other organizations and ideologies. LCC has made removing Covid mandates one of its demands.
The vast majority of members are far right Christians.
