📢🎶❤️We are calling on our sister communities across the country to join @BNHR and the El Paso communities in an exercise of collective compassion and solidarity on September 7th. 
As communities of immigrants and refugees, El Paso has a place in all of our ❤️: A community that straddles borders & cultures, a symbol for safety and inclusion for people from around the world, citizens and non-citizens alike - a symbol of hope and of home.
That symbol was attacked on Aug 3rd.
Why?
2 tendencies have intersected that invariably lead to violence: The uncontrolled access to weapons of war that has enabled mass atrocities time and time again + the white supremacist political agenda at every Trump rally & tweet.

Sadly, too many local, state and federal elected officials have remained silent.
We've had enough of the hate-filled speeches that incite violence, the criminalizing of entire families and communities, and the collusion of elected officials with hate groups.

We know that those who profit from weapons sales, who despise gun control, are often the same profiteers that make millions from arresting immigrants and putting children and families in detention centers.
They profit from the politics of fear. Their objective: to make you fear immigrants. To that we say: #YaBasta!
It’s time that we join our voices to defeat the sickening worldview that shows contempt for our lives and profits from our suffering.

That's why on Sept 7, we will bring our ❤️💚, voices and art to El Paso, TX and take a firm, collective step - #ElPasoFirme - to celebrate who we are and where we came from.
Because no wall or cage can restrain 🎶. Because compassion & solidarity are a universal language which knows no borders. Because together, we have the power to alleviate pain and confront injustice and what has been polluted by hatred can be cleansed by song & collective action.
#ElPasoFirme actions will include a march, call to action, & performances from artists, including @RebecaLane6 from 🇬🇹, @Icryduringsex & Grammy-Award winning @lasantacecilia; other artists, including @Residente are joining the call to action and speaking at the event.
