Just finished a complete rewatch of @veronicamars and then season 4. Here’s the thing...she was never going to be endgame with Logan. Why? Here’s why! #VeronicaMars 1/

They were always toxic for each other.

Are they attracted to each other? Yep! Are they cute to look at? Yep!

But let’s face it...they were only drawn closer by a shared tragedy and then were constantly crushed by pretending to be someone they’re not #VeronicaMars 2/

Logan had nearly impossible emotional & physical trauma. For so long he was the definition of self-medicating. He needed stability & discipline to survive, and, even then, it was a constant struggle. VM could only play that part until the next case came along. #VeronicaMars 3/

To ever really be in an endgame relationship, VM needs to trust completely and, at least sometimes, place her partner above everything else.

That goes against everything that makes her incredible at her job. #VeronicaMars 4/

The truth is that Logan changed a lot since season 3. Military discipline, an outlet for his anger, regular therapy...

But what made him the perfect man for VM? He was never there forever. He always had to leave again.

#VeronicaMars never had to change. 5/

In fact, VM’s arch in the movie was a massive step backwards! At that point her life, it was ok, though, because she was lying to herself.

She thought she had left Neptune, Logan, & the PI life behind. But how easy it pulled her in was evidence that she hadn’t. #VeronicaMars 6/

She had to go back to Neptune. She had to give up that facade she was living with Piz in NY. But all the changes Logan made left her in that backwards step indefinitely. Their relationship enabled her to stay there & be who she’s always been instead of evolving. #VeronicaMars 7/

Look how terrified she was when Logan first proposed or the first time Kieth mentions retirement. She had created systems in her life to never change. Kieth and Logan became enablers and when they propose change she’s threatened. #VeronicaMars 8/

Look at the times her and Logan were apart. She had to come face to face with the demons she inherited from her mom, she had space to dream of things like healthy relationships and loftier career paths. Logan, Neptune, and the PI life are her drugs. #VeronicaMars 9/

The only way she was ever going to evolve was a complete shake up, & so, even though it’s painful, that means narratively Logan had to go. He had become this tank of a man that would never leave no matter how flaky, untrusting, or mean VM got. So boom 💣 #VeronicaMars 10/

Now Veronica is changing and moving instead of being trapped in Neptune. She’s on the road both literally and figuratively. Logan’s story is a tragedy in the tradition of noir, but one that ultimately opens the door for #VeronicaMars to evolve as a show and a character. 11/

Where will she go next? LA where so many classic noirs are set? The FBI to solve major crimes on a national scale? New loves that will both support her and challenge her to evolve? @RobThomas has left the door open to many more #VeronicaMars stories that I’m ready for!!! 12/12
