Here's a demo of using Single File Components with Layout Builder, where components are derived as blocks, layouts, and field formatters.
The "Button" and "Heading" components used in this demo work as blocks, field formatters, or Twig includes, but are written agnostic to how they're used. Components that derive layouts are less abstract, but can still be used in Twig includes. Code at github.com/mortenson/sfc_…
Note that these components are relatively complex - some components are only meant to be used in Twig and don't need forms. For a simpler example see git.drupalcode.org/project/sfc/bl…
