#BillClinton supported #AlQaeda in #Bosnia and #Kosovo in the 1990s as confirmed by #RPC Congressional documents;  #HillaryClinton has supported #AlQaeda and the #IslamicState (ISIS-Daesh) in #Syria.
This article was first published in 2002.…
Known and documented, since the #SovietAfghanWar, recruiting #Mujahideen (“holy warriors”) to fight covert wars on #Washington’s behest has become an integral part of #US foreign policy.
A 1997 Congressional document by the #RPC, while intent upon smearing President #BillClinton, nonetheless sheds light on the Clinton administration’s insidious role in recruiting and training jihadist mercenaries with a view to transforming #Bosnia into  a “Militant Islamic Base”

First #Jihadi #mujahideen warriors in #Bosnia 🇧🇦 began arriving in 1992. Firstly as a humanitarian workers, and later to become the martyrs on Allah´s road in #Bosnia. Their first camp was in village of #Mehurici and their 1st leader was Abu Abdel Aziz aka #Barbaros. ⬇️⬇️⬇️
The main financier of these warriors was Mohammed al-Fatih Hassaneyn from #Sudan 🇸🇩 who with his brother Sukarno founded #TWRA an NGO in #Vienna #Austria 🇦🇹 from where he transferred money and #Jihadi warriors to #Bosnia 🇧🇦.
In 1970´s Hassaneyn was Sudanese student in #Belgrade dentistry college where he used his free time to travel
through #Yugoslavia to visit his fellow Muslims. That´s how he met another student Alija Izetbegovic in #Sarajevo and new friendship started.

So @_AfricanUnion negotiations have NOT been fruitful. #Egypt & #Sudan will NOT jeopardize the lives of millions & will never allow for the Turkish Ilısu Dam scenario to reoccur. #UN Security Council role will be crucial, but will it adopt an arbitrary role? 1/
#Ethiopia’s unilateral filling of #GERD without an agreement is a serious violation to its international legal obligations. #Sudan & #Egypt would interpret it as an act of war, making any diplomatic solution even harder to reach & comprehensive agreement more complicated. 2/
According to UN Charter Article 51, #Sudan & #Egypt will have the legitimate right of self-defence to safeguard the lives of millions of people. This is of course if #Ethiopia decides to fill #GERD without an agreement & violate its international legal obligations. 3/

#NewNormal" continues. After #CentralBank of #Yemen and #Iraq, we are having mission with #CentralBank of #Libya. Concluded a very productive #meeting with colleagues from #CentralBank and #IMF for a #Islamicfinance IMF mission through #Cisco #webmex. #riskmanagement #Libya Image
Other than #Sudan and #Iran, #Libya is going to be #third #country in the world to have full-fledged #Islamicfinance system after #transition is completed. It requires a significant progress on Islamic finance #regulation and #supervision, which is #underway.
Happy to be part of last three years engagement, through IMF, with them on various topics. Many thanks to my good friends supervisors Haithem Elyacoubi, anwar tantoush, Hatem Salem, Abdulhamid, Dr. Mukhtar for excellent discussion. I hope this will be a very good #IMF mission.

Thread: 5 reasons to say no to exchanging ports with cheap electricity:
1- Ethiopia Electricity is unreliable, in 2019 d gov rationed domestic electricity use due to shortage of rain causing dam water levels to drop & suspended exporting electricity to #Kenya #Sudan #Djibouti. ImageImageImageImage
2: Energy & Water Security: Importing electricity from Ethiopia provides leverage on Somalia energy & water security, also would hinder Somalia gov to stop Ethiopia building 9 dams ( 1 already built) per @SIPRIorg on Juba River & 2 on Shabelle River.… ImageImageImageImage
Water transboundry treaty is urgent to address yearly floods & drought in Somalia due to #ClimateChange & damming on upstream, else Ethiopia would foreclose Somalia current & future water rights & infrastructure development; resulting poverty increase & economic catastrophe. ImageImageImageImage

We are a racist people in #Egypt and we are in deep denial about it.

I wrote this in 2008 after an #Egyptian woman’s racist attack on a #Sudanese girl on the #Cairo metro.

#BlackLivesMatter  #BlackSpring…
What else but racism on Dec. 30, 2005, allowed 100s of riot police to storm through a makeshift camp in central #Cairo to clear it of 2,500 Sudanese refugees, trampling or beating to death 28, including women and children.

#BlackLivesMatter #BlackSpring
What else but racism lies behind the bloody statistics at the #Egyptian border with Israel where 2007-2008 #Egyptian guards have killed at least 33 migrants, many from #Sudan's Darfur region, including a pregnant woman and a 7-year-old girl?

Some excellent research has been published over the past few years on #policing and #militarisation that, given the recent events in the #US (and beyond), and subsequent debates on policing, deserves to be curated. A thread on some relevant scholarship from around the world. 1/n
Let's begin with the #US, where @Peterkraska has guided much of the contemporary research on the militarisation of civilian policing. Here's an article by Kapeller & Kraska on normalising police militarisation (a response to Garth den Heyer’s critique)… 2/n
den Heyer had challenged the works of Kraska and others who showed how policing was becoming more militarised in the #US. den Heyer argued instead that the establishment of SWAT/PPUs was ‘a natural progression’ in the evolution of American policing:…) 3/n

#THREAD: The #Chinese army is full of wimps, sissies & little emperors. We are not saying this. This is what #China thinks

Chinese think tanks believe “Soldiers from the one-child generations are wimps who have absolutely no fighting spirit.”…
Chinese militarily superiority is a myth. China worries about the lack of a battle-hardened army.

70% of the Chinese military force is comprised of single-children, with no siblings. As such, they have been brought up as pampered “little emperors” by parents and grandparents.
Having psychological impacts that growing up alone might have, there is a constant fear among strategic quarters in China that the softness of their force would spell a death-knell for the country’s expansionist and belligerent ambitions around all of its borders.

@liberty_sudan @_hudsonc The whole of #Sudan (both the South & the North) lost “leadership”, “direction” & “vision” with the killing of Dr. John Garang De Mabior on the 30th July 2005.

John Garang was a unionist. He sought devolved self-governance away from the ruling-Arab elites in Khartoum for the...
@liberty_sudan @_hudsonc ...South & all of the other disenfranchised & socioeconomically oppressed regions of the #Sudan. He was not naive nor was he deluded enough to ever think that the current #SouthSudan independence was ever going to be pragmatically realistic in just 6 years of a CPA interim...
@liberty_sudan @_hudsonc ...period, without there first being “fundamental socioeconomic structures” in place to be able to run the South’s - or any of the other regions for that matter - own affairs. Just look at the state of #SouthSudan now for all of the evidence of that that you need; and now look...

Image

Sudan is an amazing place & today’s #MuseumsUnlocked is a wonderful celebration of its museums & archaeological sites! Here are my favorites from the National Museum, updates on our current @brownarchaeolog excavations at Uronarti & more!

The National Museum of Sudan is an absolute treasure & one of my favorite museums on the planet. Established in 1971, the museum sits on the south bank of the Blue Nile & houses an amazing diachronic collection of Sudanese archaeology ImageImageImage
The collections of the National Museum of #Sudan span the rich history of the region, from Paleolithic to Medieval. The pottery collection features amazing examples of local ceramic traditions, including a rich display of beautiful 2nd millenium Kerma pots & some great repairs! ImageImageImage

The FFC failing again to agree on appointees to the Transitional Legislative Council. Maybe they're just not really interested, given that tripartite meetings (with the cabinet and the Sovereignty Council) give them influence without accountability. #Sudan
The weak institutionalization of decision-making is a bane of Sudanese politics. But the FFC don't seem to grasp that the generals will retain the upper hand in a system where informal decision-making is the norm. #Sudan
Other nuggets from this @SudanTribune_EN article: 1. the FFC have no intention of revising their list of appointees for governor positions, in spite of a backlash coming from all corners, including the SPA and local civil society in various states.
