The story of Burhanpur Station master Joshi goes thus : he came to know of this mysterious beggar and legend of him being Ashwatthāmā. He was on lookout. After couple of years, a beggar with matching description appeared and asked for alms of oil and flour.
Joshi gave him the alms and later started following him. As he entered dense jungles of asheergarh, the beggar confronted Joshi who told him of his suspicions

Beggar accepted and asked what he wanted. Joshi asked the boon to see the great war, if beggar had the power to arrange
Beggar warned him that he wouldn’t be able to bear the noise when pānchajanya was blown. Joshi said he would take his chances.

The beggar drew a circle around him and asked him not to come out of it. Then he touched Joshi and Joshi was suddenly in midst of great-war.
He dropped unconscious just as Ashwatthāmā predicted when he heard the blasts of pānchajanya. Was later found lying in forest by few forest dwelling bhils who knew the good station-master. They brought him back to city to his home.
