1/4 FM Szijjártó has come out in defense of US policy on immigration at #UNGA2019: “The whole world must understand that national interest comes first & those countries that are ready to act accordingly must not be attacked and must not be unfairly treated, considered and judged”
2/4 “We understand there is a debate within the @UN and that within this debate the real fundamental human rights are ignored and issues which are not matters of fundamental human rights are being falsely portrayed as if they were part of the fundamental human rights”
3/4: “The right to a safe life in your home is a fundamental human right and this is totally ignored and denied by the @UN organizations and they try to sell migration as if it were a matter of fundamental human rights -- which it is not”
4/4 #Hungary's FM Szijjártó will be speaking more on the issue of #migration at the @UN this Thursday evening.

❗️@PM_ViktorOrban at #Tusványos: Every year it's a bit of a challenge to figure out what to talk about. We know in advance what we're going to think about together, but the question is how to get there. The Romanian Foreign Ministry has told me what we can and cannot talk about.… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
The document says we can talk about some things, but let's not make them look bad. For example, Western values, which constitute three things: migration, LGBTQ and war. These do not need to be portrayed in a negative light since they do that on their own.
Romania has a new prime minister. Maybe this time it will work. Since I became prime minister, he is my 20th Romanian colleague.

1/4 FM Szijjártó stated that the Hungarian community in Transcarpathia will not be left unprotected "under any circumstances". There is pressure from both sides of the Atlantic to abandon the community, but Hungary will not give in. Image
2/4 FM Szijjártó criticized the convening of the @NATO -Ukraine Committee meeting at the ministerial level, as it "violates the unity of NATO." He stressed that HU will not support any integration rapprochement until the rights of the HUN national community in UKR are restored. Image
3/4 The FM's meeting with @jensstoltenberg revealed that HU is seen as a reliable ally contributing to the strength of @NATO. However, Szijjártó also emphasized that only countries that respect the rights of national communities should be allowed to join. Image

1/4 FM Szijjártó announced that Hungary will not participate in the supply of ammunition to Ukraine, citing HU's commitment to peace. "We are not supplying ammunition to Ukraine. However, we will not prevent others from doing what they want in this regard," he said.
2/4 Instead, HU will use the instrument of constructive abstention to not participate in the proposed increase in arms transfers to UKR. The FM emphasized HU's desire for peace, stating that "what is needed is not arms transfers but peace as soon as possible."
3/4 While Hungary will not participate in the ammunition shipments, our contribution to the European Peace Facility will be used for other purposes, including strengthening stability in the Western Balkans and reducing migration pressure.

1/8 PM Orbán in BXL: It seems the last round is finished here in the offices of the Hungarian delegation. The prime ministers who have taken the final decisions have gathered here. We went through the final round, and we have an agreement, which we will announce in a moment.
2/8 I have to say that everyone has played their last card and verdict has been reached: Albeit great understatement, I would say that common sense has prevailed.
3/8 We’ve won. In a difficult period of pandemic, economic crisis, there’s no time to continue political and ideological debates that prevent us from acting.

1/5 Since 2015, the stance of the HU Gov’t on migration has been clear and unchanged. We have presented this stance and our proposals on several occasions. We believe that the EU and its member states must cooperate in keeping the looming migration pressure outside our borders.
2/5 To this end, we should form alliances with countries of origin, so that they are able to provide proper living standards and ensure that their people do not have to leave their homelands. Instead of importing the trouble to Europe, we must bring help to where it is needed.
3/5 We believe that Europe’s borders must be protected: External hotspots will have to be established to process asylum claims; we must ensure that the external borders of the EU and the Schengen Area remain perfectly sealed along all sections.

Hungary’s so-called “democratic” opposition jointly nominated a far-right Jobbik candidate with a long history of stomach-turning, anti-Semitic and anti-Roma statements. Here’s the shameful story in brief: bit.ly/35dZBmG
Dear @liliebayer @POLITICOEurope, Given your past reporting on anti-Semitism in HU, do you plan on covering story about left-liberal opposition jointly nominating candidate from Jobbik, a man w/a troubling history of making anti-Semitic & anti-Roma slurs? bit.ly/35dZBmG
Dear Mr. Roth @MiRo_SPD: You expressed concern about “rampant anti-Semitism in Hungary." I was wondering if you would comment on your S&D sister parties in Hungary nominating a far-right candidate with a disturbing history of anti-Semitism: bit.ly/35dZBmG
