The Partiya Karkerên Kurdistanê (Kurdistan Workers Party) PKK, was established 27th November 1978 in response to Turkey's attempt to forcibly assimilate the 20 million Kurds to 'be Turks', banning Kurdish language, culture, identity & erasing Kurdish history. #TwitterKurds.
PKK is a mass political movement, the Kurdish national freedom movement that has mass support of many millions of Kurds & encompasses many different structures & countries & pursues political goals to secure rights for the Kurds and democracy for the Middle East.
PKK are engaged in an armed struggle against the Turkish army in North Kurdistan (SE Turkey) where Kurds see the Turkish army as a racist colonial occupier brutally suppressing the Kurdish population through razing of Kurdish villages, towns & cities & mass imprisonment of Kurds.
PKK are highly disciplined & adhere to the rules of Geneva Convention in relation to it's combat ops with the Turkish army. The highest court in Belgium rejected Turkey's labelling of the PKK's struggle as 'terrorist' recognising PKK as a partner engaged in an armed conflict.
PKK do not & have never targeted civilians nor have they ever carried out operations outside of Turkey's border and are no threat whatsoever to any country outside of Turkey. The PKK are defending the Kurdish people against a genocidal war being waged by the racist Turkish state.
The Turkish state however, since implementing the forced assimilation policy against the Kurds have labelled PKK's resistance against it as 'terrorism' & carried out a brutal & racist psychological assault on the Kurds legitimate struggle against the denial of their identity.
In the 90's the Turkish army carried out a barbaric policy of ethnic cleansing of Kurdish villages and towns. Over 4,000 Kurdish villages, towns and hamlets were burnt to the ground with barbaric incidents of gross human rights abuses and mass murder & humiliation against Kurds.
The Turkish army would systematically carry out atrocities against Kurdish villagers & then purposefully as part of the psychological warfare blame PKK for the barbaric acts that they, the Turkish army themselves had carried out. This aided Turkey to label the PKK 'terrorist'.
The Turkish state has never been able to admit that the forced assimilation policy was racist & wrong. Successive Turkish political parties use the hatred against the Kurds that has been whipped up because of these false labels as part of their strategy to win elections & power.
Thousands of ordinary Kurds (& friends) who refuse to give up their Kurdish identity, language, culture & history are incarcerated in Turkish prisons 4 simply advocating 4 Kurdish rights including hundreds of elected representatives of the Kurds such as MPs & Mayors & activists.
Turkey's war against Kurds who have liberated themselves in N. Syria after decades of brutal oppression by Assad is simply part & parcel of Turkey's ongoing genocidal racist war against the Kurdish people's legitimate right of self determination in all parts of divided Kurdistan.
The issue is NOT as the racist Turkish state & it's apologists prefer to advance, is whether the YPG is linked to the PKK, the question is, that the PKK is not & never has been, a 'terrorist' organisation & should be urgently removed from the US & EU 'terrorist' list. #DelIstPKK
By delisting PKK, discussion can be properly focused on the legitimacy of the Kurdish people's rights in Turkey & Rojava without being clouded by this nasty, insidious label that is designed to criminalise the legitimate demands of Kurdish people in face of oppression. #DelistPKK
By delisting PKK, the Turkish govt will finally get a political message from EU & US, that Turkey cannot have a 'licence to kill' Kurdish people nor freely incarcerate democratically elected representatives of the Kurds en masse simply because they are #Kurds! TIME TO #DelistPKK!
