Hi #EMGTwitter: now is the time to really start paying attention to self-care. It’s not a woo-woo concept; it’s about getting enough rest and staying healthy so you can dig in for a long term emergency public health response.
You might find yourself working long hours in the close quarters of an EOC for an extended period of times as you work to protect your communities. What are your agencies policies for ensuring responders immediate and long-term wellbeing during extended response coordination?
You might find yourself navigating uncharted waters w/ little direction or urgency from agencies you thought of as authorities. You might find yourself battling the idea that the very real threat you face is a hoax or overstated. How are you building trust now as a public agency?
Basically, I’m already very tired. Our partners and friends in public health and frontline medical emergency response are already very tired. If Covid-19 has not impacted your community yet, it probably will. Are you, as an emergency manager, ready?
