Decorum is always valued and should be mandatory. Upbringing really matters. There is never any excuse for bad manners. #LifeLessons
People are not judged by their money or status. They are judged by their conduct. Money doesn’t buy class neither does success. #LifeLessons
Family is sacred. It is one’s private space. Those that diss their family in public simply exhibit bad upbringing. If one can’t be discreet, one is happy to plaster drama in public which is very distasteful.

Putting my hard-won Life Lessons into a thread

#LifeLesson #1
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.
- Maya Angelou

Often we're judgemental about people we don't know well & too willing to make excuses for those who are close to us
#LifeLesson #2
Count your blessings. Always.

No matter what the situation, you are definitely much better off than many others in the world.

The fact that you're reading this on Twitter itself is evidence of this.

Never forget that!
#LifeLesson #3
Being trusting, kind, non judgemental may be touted as superpowers but they're exactly what may lead you to be in the cross-hairs of a conman

Not realizing that people totally without conscience exist can be a big trap

Q: Do you try to change yourself? Or not?

Do you know why most of us are majorly unhappy with our lives ?

Why do we constantly feel anxious or secretly envy others' life ?

Why do we feel unhappy despite having quite a few things going for us?

The answer is actually simple.... 🙂

It's because we humans constantly COMPARE ourselves to others.

Comparison gives birth majorly to all our emotions, especially the negative ones.

So why do we compare our lives with those of others' we (think) we know of?

Why do we benchmark our happiness to theirs' ?
Ever wondered why we constantly crave to equal or better our peers ?

What purpose does it truly serve ?
Isn't everything in life fleeting ?
Be it fame , beauty , money , laurels ....

So does it really matter ?
And if so, then how much ?

And at the cost of what ?

Steve Jobs dies a billionaire, with a fortune of $7 billion, at the age of 56 from pancreatic cancer, & here are some of his last words

“At this moment, lying on the bed, sick and remembering all my life, I realize that all my recognition and wealth that
I have is meaningless in the face of imminent death. You can hire someone to drive a car for you, make money for you – but you can not rent someone to carry the disease for you.”

As we get older we are smarter, and we slowly realize that the watch is worth $30 or $300 –
both of which show the same time. Whether we drive a car worth $150,000, or a car worth $2000 – the road and distance are the same, we reach the same destination. If we drink a bottle worth $300 or wine worth $10 we're drunk".

1/ An ageing master, tired of the constant complaining of his disciple, sent him to fetch a handful of salt. When the disciple returned, he asked him to mix it into a glass of water and drink it. “How did it taste?” asked the master. “Bitter” said the disciple as he spat out the

3/ “Very fresh! I couldn’t taste the salt at all” said the disciple. The master smiled at the disciple, who reminded him of his younger self, sat beside the lake and beckoned the young man to join him. “The pain of life is the salt” he said, “no more, no less. The amount of pain

#LifeLessons learnt in the last two decades as a surgeon

1. People trust you blindly or they don’t .There is no half way there. It takes time for that totality to come but,it’s worth it . The sad part about trust is once broken it hardly gets mended. The cracks remain for life
2. Your ability to convince people on anything is purely based on what they want to hear . They have made up their mind most of the times . It’s a little push they are looking for either ways . Understand this nuance
3. People have a need to blame someone if things go wrong . When it’s their mistake they blame destiny / God. But there are people who are harsh on themselves too. It’s very important that we take care of this group

Does work-life balance really exist?
ah, I feel it is always one that dominates the other.

note: the right audience should take it at an individual level

~ *thread* ~

The standard metric to measure this is figuring out what type of person are you.
I feel we all can be represented in 3 dimensions or types.
(at least what I feel)

Sometimes you just need a power that lets you believe that this will all turn out worth a shot.

let's explore this power theoretically in a practical world.

~ * thread * ~

The power that keeps us going is Trust, a power that makes us say things like "In the next 2 years, I will be earning this, then I will be doing this and finally I would be happy! "
It is actually an illusion initially, but with possible calculations. Is there a guarantee? After all, it's your own intuitions. Haha!

Google CEO Sundar Pichai
(He gave a speech in only 60 seconds) He said:

Imagine life is a game of 5 balls that you manipulate in the air trying not to fall these balls. One of them is rubber, and the rest is glass.

The five balls are:
Work, family, health, friends, soul.
It will not be long before you realize that (work) is a rubber ball. Whenever you fall, you will jump again, while the other balls are made of glass. If one of them falls, it will not return to its previous form.

It will either be damaged, bruised, cracked or even scattered.
You have to be aware of that and strive for it.

Manage your work efficiently during working hours, take the time to be assured of your sincerity, give the necessary time to your family and friends, take appropriate rest, and take care of your health.

If you like them , do share them ! :))

Whilst distributing goodies to our children , Dhriti ran upto me & whispered in my ear.

"Didi, can I get 2 more bags ?"
"What for ?" I asked a tad unhappily thinking she was being greedy.
" I need to give them to Ashok & Pushpa - my friends. They haven't eaten such sweets ever ! " she stated.

"But I have just 1extra bag !" I lied.

She thought deeply momentarily & replied , "It's okay didi. I shall give my bag to Pushpa."

Shocked I questioned her ,
" Don't YOU wish to eat these yummy sweets? "

To which the 6yr old smiled & said , " You gave them last Diwali as well . I enjoyed it back then.
This time let THEM enjoy it ."

I held back my tears.....

What an important lesson she had unknowingly imparted!

10. Be very careful where you put your teeth when carrying balloons. It's also probably not a good idea to carry eggs if you can't carry a balloon.

9. Humans should order more dog treats and less of these bags of air. Don't they know they don't need to get air shipped to them?

Happy Birthday Richard Pryor! Here’s a story in memory of him, my father and Mitzi Shore owner of @TheComedyStore. My father was a projectionist, owned a drive-in movie theater for some years, and for a spell worked at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood when I was a kid.

I didn’t spend a lot of time with him growing up. But the little time I did, it involved running around the basement of the Chinese Theater, learning how to splice and glue reels together, and picking up garbage at the drive-in during the day...
as people always liked to clean out the inside of their cars before leaving; popcorn containers, whiskey bottles, spent roaches, and dirty diapers. Gear was always being upgraded, fixed, or changed out. Eventually, my dad worked at a chain of theaters where he did just that.

You can have the best medicines, the best doctors, the best trainers and coaches, the best sleep, the best organic foods, but it’s all really useless with the wrong attitude! Attitude is everything! Choose well.
The biggest disability in the world is a bad attitude. I’ll say that again! The biggest disability in the world is a bad attitude. It affects our health, relationships, personal growth, career, friendships, the way we treat our planet and ourselves.
It affects our capabilities to be happy, our kids see this and emulate us. Nothing can work for you if your attitude is poor. Change your attitude and you change your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, experience and life!

First year of psychiatry residency teaches some valuable life lessons.

Here is a real life story about fighting delusions and living with them as it applies to today.
I worked in a municipal hospital during my urban internship stint. There was once a week Psychiatry OPD started by resident medical officer Dr Shirole and visiting consultant Dr Thombare (unfortunately, both have now passed away). I had already expressed my interest in Psychiatry
So I was allowed attend this OPD.
Dr Thombare wanted me to learn about symptoms of mind so he asked to talk a patient in detail. He allocated a middle aged man as my patient.
He was on treatment for years and was considered a "stable" patient.

* #Gratitude*
I keep a "memory jar" for each year wherein I write in brief the best moments of my life & lessons learnt. Even a small event which taught me something goes in it .
I strongly believe in " No regrets, only lessons learnt ".
( That's handpainted by me! :) )
Occasionally when I have a rough day or when I am elated , I go through the chits one by one savouring the lessons learnt . It keeps me grounded. Makes me realise I am blessed to have had so many #memories & grown as a person and that life is beautiful !! 😇
Things that happen to us, just happen. It is we who perceive it to be good or bad as per our emotions at play. It is then that practising gratitude becomes of utmost importance for we need to realign our thoughts towards #positivity& #contentment & steer away from negativity.
