#DearPandemicDiary
Woke up sore from Sunday's workout.
Some say we should sacrifice grandparents to save the economy. They weren't specific, but I believe they meant someone else's grandparents — not theirs.
I'm making my own cold brew. It ain't bad.
Tomorrow's another day!
#DearPandemicDiary
When I’m stressed on deadline my throat itches and I swear I’ve got the #Rona.
It takes 4 miles of rucking at midnight to calm down.
My niece asked grandma to make her and her brothers chicken tenders. So my mom did.
The kids’ crisis plan is to steal our food!
#DearPandemicDiary
If I survive this, I’m going to develop a #StarTrek series.
But instead of scientists, the crew will be made up of business executives and pundits.
They’ll make decisions based on what’s good for the economy, not science.
They die at the end of every episode.
#DearPandemicDiary
Today was hard.
That’s all I got.
#DearPandemicDiary
First they said not to wear a mask, so I didn’t.
Then they said wear a mask.
So I wore a mask to the grocery store.
Now they’re saying don’t go to the grocery store for two weeks, because it’s going to get really bad.
Worst. CalvinBall. Ever.

Florida now has 103,506 COVID-19 infections and rising. The weekly average of deaths is now 35 per day, up from 31 a week ago.

The pandemic is not going away, and there was a lot of news on that front today. Here's the latest from the @TB_Times (thread):
Pinellas County added 13 coronavirus deaths on Tuesday. There were 67 deaths recorded statewide.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, however, still says the rise in cases is due to expanded testing.

By @TB_Times reporter @romyellenbogen:

The Pinellas County Commission on Tuesday became the latest Tampa Bay government to require everyone to wear masks inside indoor establishments.

The order starts Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Tonight, police broke up protests in St. Petersburg and Tampa with crowd control weapons and arrested demonstrators.

But this time, officers detained and restrained two @TB_Times reporters: @divyadivyadivya and @JayCridlin.

Here's what happened (Images by @TBTphotog):
In Tampa, @TB_Times reporter @divyadivyadivya was detained along with dozens of protesters.

She identified herself as a journalist and her press badge was around her neck when an officer used a bike to push her to the ground.

Her hands were zip tied behind her back.
.@TB_Times photojournalist @TBTphotog captured the chaos when Tampa police moved in on the protesters that @divyadivyadivya was observing:

On March 27, 2019, a road rage shooting in St. Petersburg's Historic Old Northeast left one dead and another wounded. @TB_Times reporter @Ksurana6 has been digging into the case, which has taken one strange turn after another. Thread 1/4:

2. The accused shooter, William Shutt, once shot up an antique store with an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle while drunk and was suspended from Facebook for trolling strangers. @TB_Times reporter @Ksurana6 revealed all that, and how detectives found him: tampabay.com/news/publicsaf…
3. Investigators learned more about William Shutt: He kept mass shootings videos on his phone; had body armor and a small arsenal; and may have links to the alt-right. "There was a time when I was a good guy," he wrote. From @TB_Times reporter @Ksurana6: tampabay.com/breaking-news/…

It feels like the @TB_Times staff produced a week's worth of news in one day. Let's give a shout-out to some hard-working journalists. Thread:
@TB_Times The most tragic story was reported by our partners at the @MiamiHerald with help from @TB_Times reporter @JackHEvans. A man killed three women in Miami-Dade and fled with his newborn son. He was found dead in Pasco County today. But where is baby Andrew?tampabay.com/news/nation-wo…
@TB_Times @MiamiHerald @JackHEvans A Tampa City Council member used an anti-semitic slur while talking to @TB_Times reporter @CharlieFrago — then didn't think the newspaper should write about it. tampabay.com/news/tampa/202…

Some jaw-dropping passages in @MiamiHerald/@TB_Times reporter @samanthajgross' story explaining why the #FLLeg will do nothing this session to tackle the soaring cost of insulin, which endangers the lives of Florida's diabetics.
tampabay.com/florida-politi…
@MiamiHerald @TB_Times @samanthajgross The Senate has a bill to cap insulin costs. But the House version won't even get a hearing because of Avon Park Republican Rep. @CaryPigman, chair of the Health Market Reform Subcommittee. Image
@MiamiHerald @TB_Times @samanthajgross @CaryPigman Turns out, it's Dr. Pigman, and he gets a lot of contributions from the industries who profit from soaring insulin prices. Image
