government: you're a bunch of utterly selfish morons.

I just sent his office an enquiry to find out if there is a new glitch at #Centrelink for those of us already on benefits as the system is showing that our benefits

are now suspended. 10 minutes after I sent that email BILL SHORTEN CALLED ME.

Let me repeat that for you:

BILL.
SHORTEN.
CALLED.
***ME***

Not a staffer. Not a recorded message. It was Bill Shorten himself. HIMSELF.

While I was in shocked fangirly tears, wondering if this was a joke, he assured me he would be looking into this immediately. The genuine empathy in his voice made me cry even more.

I just couldn't thank him enough. He takes 5 minutes out of his incredibly busy day to call *ME* to assure me he'd be onto this. How the fuck could you all NOT resoundingly vote for this guy and the brilliant government he was going to form???!!!

I live in @ScottMorrisonMP's electorate. His office didn't help me. @billshortenmp's did. Immediately.

NOW YOU TELL ME WHO'S LIKABLE AND WHO THE FUCK ISN'T. I always instinctively knew Bill was a good human. He never had to prove it to me. Today just cemented my gut feeling.

Important update to my tweet: @billshortenmp was true to his word - got a callback from his office: the issue is now fixed & payments to all have been restored!!! Simply amazing!!! Would the issue been fixed within the day if he & his excellent staff didn’t intervene? 🤔

2nd update: ABSOLUTE confirmation that @billshortenmp and his staff are dedicated excellent humans: my benefit is now in my bank account! Sure, it won’t be in there long thx to small-b bills, but now I won’t be curled up in an anxiety-induced ball & that’s a bloomin’ good thing.
