Now that @Albertadoctors are getting the courts to support the fight against #COVID19, it is time we use our energy to unite with other advocacy groups in Alberta for all social issues that affect our patients.

We support all Health Care Heroes!
Alberta Doctors support our patients right to quality public education.

Evidence shows that patients involved in their healthcare decisions leads to better outcomes. Our paediatric patients need access to an effective and free education.

Alberta doctors recognize that we need the best research to support our patients. @UCalgary and @UAlberta were once known to produce amazing research and amazing doctors.

Cuts will hurt students + our skilled workforce.

Cuts will hurt our patients.

Alberta doctors need our patients to have access to the right nurse at the right time.

Without well-supported nursing care for our patients, we might as be writing orders on an Etch-A-Sketch.

Alberta doctors need our patients to live in a healthy environment.

When we get through this, climate change could have serious HEALTH consequences for all our patients.

Alberta doctors need our patients to feel welcome and accepted in their communities.

We are all in this together.

We will support organizations like @lgbtchamberab that work to represent our diverse patients in business and government.

Alberta doctors want to Connect All Albertans by 2023. Do this. Together.

All our issues matter.

We all matter.

On the surface this looks like a great idea.

Here is why physicians are angry:

👉 Could force hundreds of family medicine clinics to close during this pandemic

👉 Disrupts the “patient medical home”

👉 Will result in increased healthcare cost to taxpayers

Physicians are currently paid more to see patients in person than over the phone/virtual/using an app. In fact, the payment for phone calls/virtual health is so low, that you can’t pay for office expenses on that income.

As a result, there has been no financial incentive to develop virtual technologies in Alberta that could connect patients with their own family doctors.

Enter a crisis where virtual visits/phone calls would reduce the spread of coronavirus.
