Liban did not sleep well last night; he spent 3 hours browsing without writing and reflecting, generally a waste of time. 1025, he wishes to provide today his biggest fight against distraction and offer protected focus on chosen tasks.
He plans to take multiple naps.
Liban considers himself a researcher. Does he know how to do research? He does not and he wishes to learn. He learned best research has following characteristics: multiple interventions, learning and practicing skills and driven by theory ( Spatz & Kardas, 2008).
Liban also learned that he needs to learn research methods and statistics. He observed that he is often distracted by social media; he noted that media is rewarding and hence the higher frequency of that behavior. Hypothesis: rewarded behaviors tend to increase in frequency.
Liban noted that persuit of what he is curious about is rewarding: novelty seeking behaviors are intrinsically rewarding, and as such do not require rewarding for them to occur with higher frequency. Afterwards, he may reorganize such materials for variety of goals.
Distraction in social media is also novelty seeking behavior and it is rewarding too on its own right, but not as rewarding as an autotelic activities, engaged after restful night or after restful time.
Liban did not sustain reporting.
This may lead him not to supervise himself; and as such, fail to exercise, eat balanced diet, avoid diet that triggers GERD, reflect less and thus fail to improve it, fail also to do planned tasks, wasted his time and so on.
He feels heavy while doing the push-ups suggesting increased weight, mind-mapping and journaling by organizing mind-maps allows him to supervise himself and remain on course. He also woke up with back side headache and moderately blocked nostrils, possible symptoms of allergy?
He had plenty of time: failed to clean his room, though he did a little bit. This may have contributed to nostril and brain symptoms discussed earlier. He plans things to be different to day and he plans to report every hour or at worst every two hours to supervise himself.
One of the main lesson that Liban learned yesterday was mono-tasking. The brain is designed to mono-task. Liban also learned that theories have value in so far as they improve human conditions, and their environment, and advance our understanding of things.
Another fight starts now to remain focused.
Every night, Liban wishes to have slept early and he did not
He plans to retire at 10p tonight and wake up at 5:30 am; this will give him 7.5 hours. If needed he will take 2 naps during the day to complete 8hours.
As such, he will do all it takes to sleep at 10p; Liban will evaluate himself at 10p tonight.
He slept 6.5 hours and feels tired after he woke up, even though something tells him he already had enough hours of sleep; in the main though, he feels tired and in need of more hours of sleep, hence his planning above.
He gained weight, and therefore feels heavy,
in addition to being tired. He woke up feeling good though due to fasting, he thinks. He prioritizes sleeping 7.5-8 hours, exercising and having priorities to finish every day: he aims to establish these habits most urgently
Most people love to see others take what they recommended; so, assesss them and if they are right, then take them, you will have many listeners.
1045, late for 45 minutes to sleep, 30 minutes earlier than last night.
Liban did manage to wake up on time, and did start to exercise, 2 minutes. Even though he was not efficient in this respect, wasting a lot of time, about 15 minutes. Still though this is an improvement worth celebrating. For the first time, he learned real knowledge is action.
Put it differently, Liban learned that knowledge is what is implied by his action, not by his statement. He thus chose to learn by implying his knowledge through actions. This is an exciting understanding of knowledge. Journaling, to Liban, is an effective accountability tool.
Brainstorming using mind-mapping or clustering taps his mono-tasking mind, thereby allowing him to discover an insight to randomness, and then use this insight to engage in an action that implies forethought. This is the aim of life, per Aristotle.
He thus engages in constant brainstorming to create plans of action, edited as more information becomes available, and then implements these plans; he then takes time to evaluate the implementation process for the purpose of process improvement. It works.
The biggest tool of action is to start plan implementation a little bit; e.g., to clean messy house, do a little bit, and then little bit, and so on; soon, you will gain momentum resulting from the benefits of clean environment. Conversely, refrain from starting unwanted plans.
Liban plans to answer his phone as soon as possible; he will make it short. No more ignoring phone calls or messages.
Liban plans to re-start reporting every 25-52 minutes after alarming his clock. He also plans to use every hour as a cue to get a particular work done in view of getting rewarded for it.
Liban went to wire money to Somalia via Taj services. They are not sending it now and they are waiting the ok to wire money. They are affected by #COVID__19. He learned diversification of investment and government backed investments.
He then sat for browsing the Internet. Every time he sits on a particular coach in his living room, he sits for browsing. He does not know what to focus on.
Liban learned that reflecting his own experiences allows him to learn lessons from them and then apply them to better experience. So, he is continuously learning. He spent the last hour writing good tweets and he is getting more and more followers.
1121, Liban learned that skill is : combination of behavior and knowledge, goal oriented, generalizable to other feild. He learned this from psychiatric rehabilitation process, developed in Boston University. Accepting voices rather then fighting them is skill. It frees energy
1233, Liban was working on getting information about his dental insurance. He registered himself to access his benefit information; the website of deltadentalky.com is not customer friendly website. He spent an hour in there and still could not get access to his info.
1346, Liban solved the problem: set up an appointment with a dentist, to take look at a problem that he was experiencing in one of his teeth; he was feeling unusual feeling about it. He learned that knowledge and persistence is needed in this era to use dental services.
He also learned that hurried state is one of the signs of sympathetic system; whereas desire to do one thing at a time is is a sign of parasympathetic dominance, a state linked to capacities to solve problems and wisdom, resulting from calm condition.
Liban did not succeed in writing what he was doing every 25-52 min, in general terms. This taught him that he lacks the skills of journaling, to account for time and energy use. He thus wishes to learn how to do that. Mind-mapping allows him to journal: it furnishes insights
Keeping a paper and pen close by and writing whenever he gets a chance, allows him to collect information as he works; such materials are sufficient to constitute small paragraph. Something also occurs to him, solution of some sort to problem and so on.
The biggest lesson he learned is that what changed his habits is what he does repeatedly. So, he pays attention to what he does. He also learned that whenever others hold him accountable, he does a great work on constant basis: e.g spending 2.5 hours three days a week to present
Let him reproduce that successful presentation strategy. Let him do more of what works .
One of the habits he wishes to work on is getting things done on time, showing up for work on time and so on. He has the habit of always being late, that is always being late.
He will see if he can change this and institute the habit of punctuality.
