1/11 As of 30 April, there were 4,359 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in #Morocco. The country has put in place strong confinement measures with an Oxford Stringency Index of 80.95. The partial lockdown led 57% of firms to suspend their activities and lay off workers.

2/11 #CashTransfer schemes for both affected #FormalWorkers and #InformalWorkers were announced and are being implemented as part of the government responses to #COVID19. They are financed through a special fund to fight #COVID19. See @financesmaroc: bit.ly/3cZJwC5.

3/11 The fund started with MAD 10B (USD 1B) from the general budget. @CnssMaroc contributed with MAD 500M from its #UnemploymentInsurance branch. See bit.ly/2KJsyvq. Combined with other donations the fund has reached MAD 32B by 24 April.

4/11 Laid-off #FormalWorkers will receive up to MAD 2000 (USD 200) monthly from 15/3 to 30/6 and will be able to keep access to the family allowance (MAD 300 for the first 3 children, and MAD 36 up to 3 additional children) and health insurance (AMO).

5/11 This benefit replaces the #UnemploymentInsurance (IPE) for 3.5 months. Workers also benefit from a 3-month deferral on the payment of consumption debt and mortgage. 810K laid-off workers were registered by their employers on the @CnssMaroc online platform by early April.

6/11 After the emergency payment for 15 days of March, a protocol for new transfers was laid out in a decree with the thresholds to establish whether a firm was hit by the #COVID19 crisis and the eligibility and amount due to affected workers.

7/11 Applications to the emergency transfers for #InformalWorkers were available via two paths: (i) RAMED (non-contributory health insurance) cardholders were informed to apply by sending their card number via SMS. Eligibility and pay point were also informed by text message.

8/11 (ii) informal workers who are also head of households, but don’t have a valid RAMED card or who are not RAMEDISTES, could apply online in the platform tadamoncovid.ma. Confirmation of eligibility and pay point were sent by SMS.

9/11 The structure of the benefit for #InformalWorkers is the following: MAD 800 for households of 2 people or less, 1000 for 3 or 4 people, and 1200 for 5 or more. About 2.3M RAMEDISTES have had access to the benefit as well as 2M non-RAMEDISTES.
