Speaking of Texas!

This half-Texan was interested today to see a whopping 320 new seqs from @MethodistHosp come onto @nextstrain today! (Great work!)

We've cut down on the detail in the Nextstrain #COVID19 #SARSCoV2 tweets (simply too much coming through - apologies!) but...

Since I have a personal interest, I wanted to highlight a couple things.

We see a large almost-Texas-only cluster of 62 seqs (time left, divergence right) - 1 Taiwan seq among them. Big display of a very local transmission chain. Poss transmit to Taiwan from TX?

As is the case in many US states, Texas samples scatter across the tree. This cluster mixed a lot of Texas, Idaho, Arizona, & Utah.
Within it, one can also see many small clusters of local TX transmission (example of 13 seqs shown)

This cluster of 28 Texas seqs (left) are in a mixed USA & more global cluster - but again seem to indicate plenty of local transmission.

But groups like the right remind us how well-travelled this virus is - interlinks places in USA & globally.

And I won't forget our dear neighbour, Louisiana. Their new seqs largely cluster in one group on the tree (left).

There are close connections with Texas (as a neighbour might expect - 2nd image is zoom of large cluster, 3rd a zoom within that cluster).
