[Thread] 1/ This morning's network graph of the "coup in Qatar" disinformation hashtag, which has netted around 150,000 tweets according to Twitter. This graph shows about 50,000 of them. Let's see who the big players on the hashtag are... 
2/ Funny thing, is when you strip away all the retweets, the mentions in retweets, and leave only the mentions, replies, and tweets - you are left with this. What this suggests is that what's really happening is a hell of a lot of amplification with very little real interaction
3/ Also, the nodes shown are the accounts that actually tweeted the term "coup in qatar" (In Arabic). So this excludes those accounts who were mentioned, spammed, attacked but did not actually tweet the term. In other words, it tries to include the antagonists, not recipients
4/ Here you see a few of the usual players, the mysterious self-styled head of the Qatari opposition in London @khalildalhaill . He is saying he absolutely believes the coup has happened.
5/ Others include Saudi journalist Khalid Al Matrafi @Almatrafi (942k followers), Saudi influencer @monther72 (382k ), Saudi poet Abdullatif bin Abdullah Al Shaykh @Alshaikh2 (428k followers) AlArabiya (14 million ), Saudi writer Nora Shanar @Norashanar (33k) - to name a few
6/ The one's mentioned above are those tweeting in support of the rumours, or compounding the narrative. For example, AlMatrafi noted that sources told him that Turkish forces had quelled the coup attempt
