The British gutter press are already using terms like "Professor Lockdown" to denigrate Ferguson. MPs and others are also citing an anonymous 'critique' of Ferguson's work. The critique is a distraction to refocus attention not on 30000 deaths, but on 'the science'/anti-expert
Obviously science is a process of contestation, theorising, hypothesis testing, debate - so it should, and is, subject to scrutiny - but this is actually not what's going on. Economy obsessed MPs are just using something that suits their narrative to deflect blame
