If anyone wants to investigate for themselves, here are all of the similar sequences to #SARSCoV2, #SARSCoV1, and #DISEASEXXX, a dog coronavirus. Note that #MERSCoV is ~64% similar to SARS-COV-2 and SARS-CoV2 is 80% similar to SARS-CoV-1.

1) An alphacoronavirus that's 90% similar to SARS-CoV-1 (SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV are betacoronaviruses) was isolated and sent to the Virology
Department, Institute of Military, Changchun, Jilin 130122, China on or around August 22, 2013.

2) On or around July 24, 2013, a betacoronavirus that’s 96.11% similar to SARS-CoV-2 was sent to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. This sequence wasn't made public until 2020.

3) Many SARS-related ("SARSr-CoV") sequences were isolated in 2017 that caused human disease with SARS-like illness in rural China. These sequences are still not public.

4) If we are truly tracking origin stories, we should look all the way back to the November 2002 outbreak of SARS-CoV-1, and which viruses were similar to that.

@eperlste And then it uses native ACE2 transport pathways, pretending that it's ACE2 bound to some kind of serum particle or apolipoprotein, for example. The body can't tell that it's a virus, so it extravasates it and treats it like a human thing.
@eperlste The virus is very smart. It binds to ACE2 in such a way that ACE2 still can bind to and cleave Ang I / Ang II into Ang-(1–9) / Ang-(1–7), because it binds on the opposite end of the catalytic pocket on ACE2.

We know that the SARS-CoV-2 virus has evolved to bind to the ACE2 receptor approximately 10x stronger than SARS-CoV-1. ACE2 also circulates in the blood. There are several mechanisms whereby ACE2 will displace antibodies.

Let me elaborate.
Here is a great example to start off, from From Ju, B., Zhang, Q., Ge, X., Wang, R., Yu, J., Shan, S., ... & Ge, J. (2020). Potent human neutralizing antibodies elicited by SARS-CoV-2 infection. BioRxiv.
"Here, we report on the isolation and characterization of 206 RBD-specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) derived from single B cells of eight SARS-CoV-2 infected individuals."

As a scientist, I'd like to note that it's impossible to study a bat coronavirus for 7 years within a research lab where they were known to recombine different viral fragments, and not end up having evolution happen that perhaps wouldn't have happened in the wild. Just saying.
Recombining viruses, you say? Wuhan, 2017.
