First Double Hundred:

Australian right handed batsman Billy Murdoch scored first double century in test cricket, making 211 against England at the Oval, on 12 August 1884.

He is also the First Captain.

Australia got their first double-century in their 16th Test, but for England it came in their 75th Test (that too by a debutant)- a record for most matches before first 200 for a team until Bangladesh took 76 Tests for the same.

13 years before the master blaster reached this landmark, there was a lady, Belinda Clark is the first cricketer scored ODI double hundred. On 16th December 1997, she had smashed an unbeaten 229 off just 155 balls against Denmark in the ICC Women’s CWC match.

Belinda Clark is also the first Woman Captain to hit a double hundred. She is also first Player to hit in World Cup.

The first triple century in Test match was scored by Andy Sandham (England) against the West Indies in 1930. As of now 31 triple centuries in the test matches have been scored by the cricketers.

Virendra Sehwag on March 29th in 2004 in Multan against our arch rival Paksitan scored the first triple century by an Indian. The best part is that he was the first one to bring up his 300 by hitting a six. He hit a six on the onside off Saqlain Mushtaq when he was on 295.

Brian Lara and Chris Gayle (West Indies), Donald Bradman (Australia) and Virender Sehwag (India) are the only batsmen to scored 300 plus score more than once in the test matches.
