4 years ago this minute. Just off phone w/ my lawyer. After 5 weeks of limbo, the #FBI/#DOJ going to allow me to surrender at 8am tomorrow morning in Manhattan. Only info we got was that they would agree to 500,000$ bail. No idea what charges.. "bring passport & way to make bail"

Additional instructions from lawyer: Shoes w/ out laces, and they will take your belt & tie when you go into "box."

Me: What the fuck is the "box"?

Can't sleep..questions swirling. What am I being charged with? Who lied to Grand Jury? Will anyone else from #Deutschebank be charged with me? Will I end up going to prison?Will I be married to the guy with the most cigarettes? What if I have to crap in front of a crowd of guys?

4 years ago... Show time. #FBI agents on way down from their building (outside Foley Park, NYC) to collect me for processing after my lawyer called them to say I was surrendering.

Spent last 1 1/2 hours in part office, part medical office with NY #FBI agent, DC FBI agent and my lawyer. Fingerprints. Mugshot. DNA collection. 100 questions on family, assets, cars.Very professional so far. Now we walk to courthouse.. This is usually the perp walk stage. Yikes

Small relief... no cuffs or photographers on walk to courthouse. NY #FBI agent departs; Me, lawyer and DC agent head up to Pre-trial services. Pre-trial services watch over you before trial while the #DOJ finishes grinding you into fucking powder.

In pre-trial services, another mugshot. Fingerprints. DC #FBI Agent waits outside while I answer more questions. Again from a very professional, courteous officer. Full financials. Cars. Medicines. Vitamins. Booze use (yikes). Family. Phone numbers addresses. Thorough.

11am now, heading to US Marshal's wing. I am ushered into their lair, alone, with hands behind my back. Scary, serious dudes. Questions designed to help them track my ass down if I skip bail. Obsessed w/ details of my old dog, in case they have to kill him when they come for me.

I still only know I'm being charged with some version of wire fraud. The indictment from the grand jury is still sealed. Until it's unsealed it's all a big fucking secret. After I'm done w/ Marshals, it's time to sit in the fucking "box" until arraignment. Belt & tie off

Score one for DC #FBI. Instead of going to a cell, he has taken me into his custody and allowing me & my lawyer to wait this out in the cafeteria. Thankful. It's 12:15 now, we sit and wait for indictment to be unsealed by #DOJ so I can see what I'm fucking charged with. Coffee.

Finally, the #FBI Agent says the indictment is unsealed and we get a hard copy from #DOJ. My lawyer reads it then I do. 36 pages,8 counts of conspiracy, bank and wire fraud. SO RELIEVED. My handful of legal, company policy emails were their evidence, I knew I was fucking innocent

Other #Deutschebank trader indicted with me I did not know, did not trade with and never contacted. He was from our London office. Weird how they can do that. A judge assigned and 3pm arraignment time is scheduled.

I got my tie and belt back. As we entered court, my instructions from my lawyer: Stand when he does, sit when he does. Keep your piehole shut. Courtroom smaller than I expected. Judge entered, my lawyer said "not guilty" when judge asked, bail was set at $500,000 and we file out.

While I sit waiting for the court clerks to process my bail paperwork, my lawyer is outside dealing with the press inquiries. There are many. Apparently, I am now infamous.

Finally, my day in court is over and I can head home. My lawyer and I part ways after he checks on my mental well-being. I believe he is starting to agree with my wife that I may be insane.

My phone is going crazy with supportive emails and text messages from people who are just hearing/reading about the charges. I go through all of them on the ferry home from court in NYC

Just got home and got bear hugs from my great wife and kids. My wife had a 1/2-pint glass of @JimBeam Devil's Cut waiting for me. Time to sleep the sleep of the innocent.
