#Thread I've been seeing a lot lately of reporting that is true, but doesn't really matter. It's a case of #DetectingDeception
2/ The stories about the #coronavirus case increases as states allow more travel and commerce are a great example. You always need to wonder why something happens.
3/ The increases in cases are worrisome. The increase in testing is welcome. An increase in testing, particularly where it is targeted to places where infection is likely to spread means cases are likely to grow.
4/ As states are beginning wide testing in places like meat processors, prisons and nursing homes, numbers are rising. The increase is real and likely means there should have been better surveillance in those places sooner.
5/ The increases are true, but they don't mean more activity is responsible. It takes time for symptoms to show up and in most places you need to be showing symptoms to qualify to get a test.
6/ Should there be more testing and the tracing of contacts of people who are sick? Probably. Does an increasing number of cases mean you should limit your contact with others? Probably. But has increased activity caused the case growth reported today? Don't know.
