#TaraReade lied about her credentials as an "expert" witness for nearly a decade. Her false testimony throws into doubt verdicts reached in cases where she testified, incl'g at least 2 life sentences. The Asst DA is alerting defense counsel in every case. nytimes.com/2020/05/21/us/…
Multiple defense attorneys now seek to challenge convictions based on #Reade's false testimony. “Had I had the information that I have now, this case, in my mind, would have gone differently,” said Monique S Hill, then a public defender.
Lawyers Soltesz & Erdbach objected to #TaraReade's testimony at the time, "saying they were skeptical that her work experience qualified her as an expert." They were overruled. Soltesz is exploring whether he can reopen a case that sent 2 women to prison for life.
Attorney Soltesz "emailed a network of more than 100 public defenders, alerting them to questions about Ms. #Reade’s background & credibility" which were 1st reported by @CNN. amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/05/19…
#Reade lied under oath about her education & credentials. She has falsely claimed to be a graduate of Antioch College, to have attended under a "protected program," & to have taught there as a visiting professor "on & off" for 4 or 5 years, none of which is true (NYT).
#Reade "testified that she received a liberal arts degree, as was stated on her résumé provided by the district attorney’s office. 'The focus was political science,' she said, according to a trial transcript."

Antioch is "certain" she never received a degree (NYT).
#TaraReade also lied under oath about her job w/ #Biden, saying “I was a legislative assistant. He worked on the Violence Against Women Act, the federal act.”

LAs work on policy. Reade worked as a staff assistant, a different job.
The fact that #Reade lied under oath, not simply in press interviews is "absolutely ... of concern to us," Monterey's Asst DA told NYT, "'and it’s something that the defense attorneys would need to know about. We don’t want people that we call lying about anything'" (NYT).
"The Sixth District Appellate Program, a state-funded public interest law firm that represents low-income clients in the region, is also reviewing all the cases involving Ms. #Reade" because her false claims about her qualifications can be "grounds for reversal of a verdict."
@ASFried Did you see this? #Reade testified in at least 20 cases & lied about her education & qualifications as an expert witness. Defense counsel are considering filing habeas writs to overturn convictions if judges find Reade's lies influenced juries' decisions to convict.
