There is written documented evidence of how the SangMele/Metis people of southwestern NS were treated differently and thought of as someone who was "less than" and therefore the "Pur" - white acadians would rather see their children unmarried as to marry a Sang-Mele/Metis person.
This is back in the 1800's this is how my people were being described by others. This is why @DarrylLeroux 's Race Shifting is so much BS. These people were labelled by others for years. William Wicken even wrote about that in one of his reports.

about who we are. We are finding our families, re-kindling kinship's, finding and learning about our families and their indigenous identities, their culture, some that has been lost and silenced by so many complicit people. Some practiced by so many and they don't even know.
