1. How many folks who've used the words "Anarchy" or "Anarchists"today ever actually studied Anarchy or Anarchists? Libertarians & anarchists have some shared points of view. Should we round them up too? Watch out @KochIndustries' Charles Koch. The DOJ must be coming for you.
2. The fundamental difference is that Anarchists are anti-authoritarian. American Libertarians are willing to accept authoritarianism if it advances their personal interest in what they call "liberty." The use of the term "Anarchy" to mean "civil unrest" IMO is bad English usage.
3. "Chaos" is likely the more appropriate noun. The problem is we don't have a term than encompasses those who seek chaos. So we say it's the Anarchists. But historically Anarchists didn't seek chaos. They sought the end of state authority.
4.They played a role in the Russian Revolution as an alternative to the authoritarian Bolsheviks. The fact that the Russian GRU directed @POTUS is now blaming the Anarchists for everything has a certain symmetry.
5. When I try to explain my understanding of Anarchy, I use the example of a 5 way stop-sign only intersection. If we put traffic lights up we would likely have constant collisions. But just putting the stop signs people have to stop. And proceed as the custom or law prescribes.
6. Anarchists might say that we don't need a state controlled stoplight to tell us how to drive safely. We need not have the state dictate our conduct when the obligation to drive safely and protect others was ours all along. 😎
