This important action on the part of Mayor Bottoms' has led to all 6 officers involved in the attack now being criminally charged in REAL TIME. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO SEE IN NEW YORK!!!
Instead of Governor Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio deploying more cops, setting ridiculous curfews & extending those same ridiculous curfews, launching investigations into everything that go no where, then arguing with each other as to why the plan is not working- TRY JUSTICE FIRST!
Why not demand all four officers in Minneapolis be ARRESTED & criminally charged for the lynching of #GeorgeFloyd, why not fire Officers Garcia & D'Andraia right here in NY?
Why not outline your plan for #PoliceReform & accountability in New York State and bring the right people together to do it. Why not turn your focus from the destruction of property to the focus of the pain of the people?
I'll tell you why? Police Departments are one of the last & most prominent vestiges of #WhiteSupremacy. No matter how successful or educated a Black person becomes a police department is always a tool to suppress your ability to live as a full human being from cradle to grave.
The ability to have the power to stop and frisk, assault, lynch, choke hold and shoot a Black person with impunity means that you as a Black person have not elevated from your position on a plantation as a slave.
There are those that need to hold on to that power like Pat Lynch of PBA & then there are those like Gov. Cuomo & Mayor de Blasio that I don't believe share those views....
but know & recognize that if this last vestige of White Supremacy is toppled with reform & accountability, the rage of those White Supremacists would cause a war of incalculable proportions that they are not ready to face.
WE MUST MAKE THEM FACE IT. NOW IS THE TIME. WE ARE READY!
