Here's a tricky one. Black Betty was an African-American working song. It's been resurrected by a few artists including @caravanpalace, who I adore. I don't know how I should feel about this. I love the song, but I hate the historical context.

Nearing the end of this thread, but important to emphasise I'm not doing this for one day. This was a means of me getting my head around the scope of material I will need to help me be a better ally, while sharing some sick tunes. But it's not 5pm just yet.

And to finish, this. I'm so grateful to #ShutDownSTEM and #ShutDownAcademia for giving me the space to do a lot of reading on black oppression and ways to solve it. There's a lot more reading to do, but I feel today was spent doing something very worthwhile.
