1. Adding human rights clauses is indeed important in Bilateral Investment Treaty, but signing the BIT itself at this moment is redering the EU dependent on China. EU should only sign the BIT if China lifts the #NationalSecurityLaw.
2. Magnitsky Act should sanction all officials that violate human rights in China and #Hongkong, from top officials like Carrie Lam to low ranking ones like returning officers and police officers.
3. Life-boat scheme can provide alternatives for HKers and is of course welcome. But prevention should come before it happens. We would support EU's effort to puressure China to not destroy my home, #Hongkong.
4. I appreciate #EuropeanParliament's effort to support peaceful protesters, and request the #HKG to drop their charges. But #手足不是condom, we won't give up on radical protesters. Without them HK has been dead already.
4.1. Though many of the proters have "breached the law", but given the situation, we need to understand their intension. It's the system and the #HKG that forced them to revolt.
4.2. I'd like to use this metaphor to urge for support:
"My father stole bread to feed me, please don't prosecute him"
The protesters used force to protect our home. Their charges should be dropped, or at least they deserved fair and open trials, not revenge.
