How on earth a county, despite 14 neighbors, triggered havoc in world, seems invincible?

Certainly not just bcz of mighty army, weapons or nukes but the art of principally unprincipled "UNRESTRICTED WARFARE", which is 'beyond boundaries', OFF the traditional battlefield.

Take a quick flash back to 90's when USA rocked the world with it's chest thumping advance military forces, technology & weapons used in series of wars- Gulf war, Iraq no-fly ops, Somalia civil war, Bosnia, Haiti & Serbia interventions.

On other hand China had last fought Vietnam War ('79), besides minor domestic clashes.

Well aware of it's inferior skills on warfare, China knew they cant stand US with military power w/out having alternative approach. And so conceptualized the idea of 'modernize' warfare.

In Feb'99, 'PLA Literature & Arts Publishing House' released a book "Unrestricted Warfare", written by two senior ranks Col. Qiao Liang & Wang Xiangsui. It almost immediately created wave in EU & US and well endorsed by PLA leadership, considered as PLA handbook.

The book proposes the 'tactics', mostly unscrupulous to compensate China's military inferiority during a high-tech war, by advocating methods such as cyber attack, targeting financial institutions, terrorism, manipulating media, unholy ally & conducting urban warfare.

Authors brought attention to the events which shook the world that decade e.g. ASIA economy crisis 'triggered' by George Soros ('97), US Embassy attack by Al-Qaeda ('98), Tokyo Gas attack ('95), 1st cyber attack-Morris worm ('88) & the fall of USSR ('80-'90) ending cold war.

These are classic example where the degree of destruction was NO less than a war. However, NO use of military combative skills yet more complex, extensive, concealed, subtle & decisive at NO cost of 'direct' line of sight by any establish govt on any international forum.

Q. Where will it be fought?
A. EVERYWHERE.

A single..
> man-made stock market crash
> computer virus invasion
> rumor blow the exchange rates
> scandal exposes the leader on internet
..are potential new-concept weapons.

Anything which can cause
- social panic
- street riots
- political crisis
..even by targeting..
- electricity n/w
- traffic dispatching n/w
- financial transaction
- media & comm n/w
..which potentially paralyze enemy nation & forced to sign a "dishonorable peace treaty".

Q. Who will fight such wars?
A. Hacker, Investors, Media, TV Host, Politicians, Artists, 'Philosopher', or anyone who is as equal as B!n Lad3n in terms of "fanaticism" !!

Modern sovereignty had already expanded the territories to various domains like politics, economics, nationalities, religion, culture, networks, geography etc. Therefore the "Sovereignty security" should NOT be restricted only to borders.

5. Social fueling: Religious propaganda, malign global image
6. Politics: Instability, pressure on govt to take 'popular' decision (I won't open can of worms here!)

Interestingly UW referred these as 'kinder' weapons wich only paralyze enmy to achieve strategic objct w/out or min casualty. Kind!

No doubt, China is under tremendous pressure, from it's own citizens as well as globally due to Covid economic impact.

No wonder, why it will try all distractions tactics by poking Hong-Kong, Taiwan or India- to please own people.

In/directly we all r under warfare. While govt,Army, opposition, media will do their job, we all are expected do our bit as citizen. Stay united,keeping all differences aside.

As-f-as CN is concern,IND don't need just bug fix but version upgrade of Foreign & Defense policy
