How can homeless advocates, who TAUGHT US that homelessness is primarily caused by poverty, send out newsletters about increasing funding for vouchers aka means testing and in-kind resources, perpetuating second class citizenship and welfare slavery.1/

POVERTY IS NOT A LACK OF HOUSING. IT'S A LACK OF CASH. Need housing? Build more housing. But DON'T sit there and tell me that if most people had money they would still be homeless. The data just doesn't bear it out. Breaking fucking news: @AndrewYang ran for president. 2/

He and the #yanggang made UBI mainstream, so we can stop propping up the human service industrial complex. Yes, we like working "with" people but there are plenty of traumatized people out there who need help BEYOND just proving their worthiness to @HUD and housing authorities 3/

Move 80% of our poverty-related in-kind resources to a basic income and the other 20% could actually be EFFECTIVE in serving the people who NEED targeted services in addition to cash. 4/

Right now the 20% of people who NEED more than just cash are dying outside, while we pander to our rich white donors to help our poor, poor clients who made quite a mess of their lives 🙄. 5/

And those vouchers you lick boots for will go to the least vulnerable clients because they are the ones fit enough to fill out that goddamn paperwork. If you're not brave enough to ask for what we really need (UBI) you might want to reconsider your profession. 6/

We are not here to be saviors. We are here to demand justice. Economic justice is not gained through vouchers and standing in line at the housing authority or the welfare office. 7/

Economic justice is gained when EVERYONE has the ability to CHOOSE what they buy and where they live, free from coercion, free from government surveillance. VOUCHERS ARE NOT JUSTICE. VOUCHERS ARE "GENEROUSLY" GIVEN BY THE OPPRESSOR. 8/

UNIVERSAL CASH provides some semblance of justice (so far). Justice that can then be multiplied and invested where ALL citizens see fit. No lines, no questions, no proving your worthiness. No begging donors for crumbs, just to see it squandered by the so called "advocates." 9/

If you can't swallow that truth, #socialworkers, it might be time to pack it in. That's all. 10/10
