A 3 judge bench of the Supreme Court led by Justice AM Khanwilkar to shortly hear petition seeking cancellation of #CBSE Board Exams scheduled to be held in July, amid the #COVID19 pandemic

During the last hearing on June 17, SC had asked the counsel for CBSE to seek instructions on the petition.

"At a time when India is nearing the 3,00,000 mark of total reported cases, it would be a huge risk" to hold #CBSEBoardExams2020, the petition had stated

SG: By tomorrow evening, a formal decision will be finalised. We understand the anxiety of the students. We can inform the court day after tomorrow.
Supreme Court defers the hearing fill June 25.

J Khanwilkar: The hearing will be held at 2 pm on June 25 so that you (SG) get enough time to respond.
SC: There is a matter concerning ICSE board exams. Will you reply on that?

SG: I am only for the Centre. If I am given the plea, I can respond

Senior Adv Jaideep Gupta for ICSE: We are waiting for orders in CBSE. Bombay HC has deferred the matter till June 23 due to SC hearing
Senior Adv Gupta: We can keep this day after tomorrow

SC: But will you follow what Centre or CBSE decides

Gupta: we will follow what government decides
SC to counsel for ICSE: The situation is very unusual. If govt decides and takes an informed call then please take it seriously and don't discard it because you are an autonomous body

Senior Adv Gupta: We bow down

SC asks ICSE to give a copy of the petition to the SG Mehta
Next hearing on June 25, 2 pm. ICSE submits that it will broadly follow CBSE decision. SC clarifies: ICSE is at liberty to tweak the CBSE decision & follow the "informed decision"

SG clarifies that CBSE decision is not binding on ICSE.
