An excellent question from @Canucktrader1. The answer is multi-layered.

AGREED - @macleans, as “qualified Canadian journalism organizations”(QCJO), is a recipient of Liberal media bailout. This has ignited a public debate and raised valid questions of bias and favouritism.

While political actors who are complicit in advancing this aberration will naturally and by reflex pay passing lipservice with the default mantra: “A healthy democracy relies on an independent press, free of political influence."

AGREED - @CommrRCMPGRC did capitulate,

with nary a fight [sarcasm intended], to the imposition of the new-trumpeted #LPC false narrative of "systemic racism", by affixing it to @rcmpgrcpolice. It is an uncalled-for and sweeping condemnation, WITHOUT ANY MERIT on a systemic level.

In recent Tweets, I've described @macleans @stphnmaher ET AL. story as "wildly speculative bordering on nonsense" & "teeters unsteadily on the edge of utter lunacy" - all of which amounts to nothing better than a glorified conspiracy theory, if that.

AND, as it turns out, I am not an outlier, alone in my condemnation. A former CSIS senior strategic analyst @JessMarinDavis has her own concerns, which she has no difficulty sharing with refreshing candour.

For the record, I do not know Ms. MARIN.

BY CONTRAST, the all-encompassing deficiencies permeating @macleans @stphnmaher ET AL. story are acutely visible placed alongside reporting by @dougquan via @TorontoStar. IMO - Mr. QUAN's piece is exemplary of excellent 'both hands' journalism.

Before leaving @macleans @stphnmaher ET AL., I point out its fault-ridden conjecturing and preposterous leaps of logic, which offering precious little hard evidence is given a thin coat of glaze by the questionable opinions of dubious sources, who decline to be identified.

SO WHY the rush by some journalists to be associated with shoddy journalism?

In part, there's a closing of the ranks in support of one another in the sodality of journalism - i.e. "I've got your back this time; next time, ..."

AND, another thought:

Back to @Canucktrader1's original question, which I paraphrase as:

'When @CommrRCMPGRC has already taken a knee, why the need for @rcmpgrcpolice to be beset by @macleans?'

☞. BECAUSE the @JustinTrudeau #TRUDEAU @liberal_party #LPC I know are no respecters of the rule:

"Never kick someone when down." For them, it is actually the opportune time to try to bend the other knee. After all, subjugation isn't achieved complete overnight. MACLEANS has simply chosen to join the dog pile.
