Do you know that you need to make an appointment when visiting Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN) or National Registration Department (NRD)? A short thread. #DYKT

Took my daughter to obtain her MyKad as required under the law when a citizen turns 12. Arrived at JPN+Immi centre at Dutamas. There were two lines - immigration and JPN itself. So first make sure you on the correct line. Inside looking out - JPN on left, Immi on Right.

For JPN, which was why I was here for, and did not make appointment, you have to register in advance. Make your appointment here at mytemujanji.jon.gov.my

As I did not know, I apologise and the officer manning the counter took the trouble to help me check for crowd situation - and allowed us to proceed without appointment. However only two person allowed in per family, so I have to sit this out and wife+daughter went in.

For Immigration purposes, there is also an expectation for appointment. So be prepared for all these expectations and do not be frustrated. Register at was.imi.gov.my. No QR code provided.

However, immigration has online services you can use. They also included the list of other branches (UTK) that you can perform other immigration services.

All services was rendered and completed in less than 20mins from the time we gotten the number, to completion. However they are unable to provide same day service as they do not want you to wait too long. We were told to come back in 3-working days.

Also bring your kids birth certificate. MyKid however, is not required. But as always, bring them as you won’t lose anything if you don’t, or if they don’t need it. When dealing with Gov agencies, more is always better.

Lastly, and this was just shown to me by wifey. You can now make an IC replacement online. Only applicable if you already have a MyKad, 12 and above, able to collect IC yourself, did not lose IC more than 3x.
