#COVID19Lagos Update as at 27th of June, 2020

📢4,891 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Lagos State between June 2 and June 27, 2020 bringing total of confirmed cases in the State to 10,042.

📢Out of the confirmed cases, 1,533 patients have since been discharged Image
from #COVID19Lagos care centres following full recovery.

📢5, 226 of the cases monitored in communities by #COVID19Lagos response team have either fully recovered or responded positively to treatments at home.
📢454 of the cases are currently under isolation in public and private care centres across Lagos.

📢However, 2,683 active cases in the communities are yet to turn up for admission in care centres either due to ignorance / fear of stigmatisation or preference for home care.
📢As at 27th of June, 2020 numbers of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos State have risen to 128.

📢16 #COVID19 patients have been transferred to other states while 2 patients evacuated outside Nigeria.
I urge all Lagos residents to #TakeResponsibility in the fight to stop community spread of #COVID19

Flattening The Curve

@followlasg strategies are in line with what is called flattening the curve to ensure there are not too many #COVID19 patients in a short period of time that will overwhelm our health infrastructures.
Testing capacity ramped up.Testing is now done in 4 centers; @LagosBiobank @LUTHofficial @nimrnigeria and @weare54gene

Over 1507 cases diagnosed, 406 discharged , 1037 active and 33 #COVID19 related deaths recorded so far.
Lagos mainland has majority of #COVID19 cases.

Alimosho, Oshodi, mushin, ikeja, kosofe and Isolo are having more #COVID19 cases.

New cases detected in Ojo.

The State is using this data to plan its strategies and where to place increased surveillance and isolation capacity.

This hospital is a Lagos State designated high care, biosecurity-compliant, #COVID19 facility, accredited by the Health Facility Management and Accreditation Agency @HEFAMAA_LASG of the @LSMOH

As a basis for accreditation, First Cardiology Consultants established a separate specialist wing with staff dedicated to the treatment of complicated cases of #COVID19, under the supervision of the Lagos State #COVID19 emergency response team.

I regret to announce the first #COVID19 related death in Lagos state.
The deceased was 55 year old Nigerian🇳🇬; male who lived in Holland but returned to Lagos 2 weeks ago.
He had a kidney transplant 7yrs ago and also diabetic.

He was on strong immune suppression drugs for the kidney transplant.
He was admitted on the night of April 2nd, 2020 on presumption of complications from the kidney transplant.
He did not provide full account of his travel history or medical circumstances to the attending doctors in keeping with global trend and to enable guided treatment for #COVID19 related vulnerability due to severe underlying ill health.
