We won! Today’s #SCOTUS decision is reason to celebrate! We’ve been terrified that The Brettboy Court could overturn precedent and decimate abortion access. That didn’t happen so take a moment to celebrate *ten seconds* before the “OK BUT….” 1 / 6
OK but… there is still work to be done. We founded AAFront to uplift independent providers! And the only clinics in Louisiana are independent providers. Over the past five years we’ve toured the United States providing support on the ground. 2/6 aafront.org/donate/ Image
We work with local advocates to raise awareness. Our comedy/music shows turn our performers’ fans into advocates! We get our hands dirty doing yard work when we needed to or gave clinic workers spa days when they needed some love 3/6 aafront.org/donate/ Image
And when COVID hit, we transitioned to online support! Our touring has been put on pause, but our support hasn't. We’ve been going into overdrive to set up mutual aid for these indie clinics who are operating against all odds to provide care. 4/6
JUST LAST MONTH we teamed up with @AbortionCare @ShoutYrAbortion to produce an emergency fundraiser to #KeepOurClinics because over 90 percent of clinics were in danger of closing because of the #COVID19 if they didn’t get funds. 5/6
This win is so exciting and we know there is much more work to be done. If you want to help us support independent clinics, embolden advocates, and destigmatize abortion, please donate today! We want to make sure every clinic feels supported! 6/6 aafront.org/donate/

For #My40Days, let’s talk about MINDFULNESS about how we discuss abortion with friends, people who've had abortions, your aunt Linda, your dentist, and so on. Let’s start with a big one: why we’ve (mostly) stopped saying “pro-choice.”
We are ALL about letting people have agency over their decisions. So yes, naturally, “pro-choice” works well for that. #My40Days
But we also have to think about who “pro-choice” leaves out. The healthcare system and the WORLD are effed up and create all kinds of barriers for people who want to be parents. So for some people maybe it’s not a “choice” to have an abortion so much as a necessity. #My40Days

#RBG taught us to stand up to sexist ghouls. Now that she's gone, misogynists are twirling their gross mustaches, gearing up to replace her legacy with an anti-abortion extremist!
Said anti-abortion ghouls have started their crusade with a nationwide clinic troll-a-thon called "40 Days for Life." #My40Days
In this annual event, hordes of uninvited Catholic hatesplainers "stand guard" outside of abortion clinics for 40 days and 40 nights. Really, it's just stalking. #My40Days

Badass of the day: Shirley Chisholm! Today is the 49th anniversary of Chisholm entering the Democratic primary, making her the first Black woman to run for president of these United States.
When she ran for Congress, her slogan was “Unbought and unbossed.” She also spoke truth to power when she said, “If you don’t have a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”
When she was elected to Congress — also the first Black woman to do that — they tried to hide her on the ag committee, which took her away from working for the people who actually elected her. Still she rose.

It’s #LatinxHeritageMonth! And today as a #TBT we wanted to talk about Jane Doe and her saga trying to get an abortion in 2017. aclu.org/press-releases… Image
Although she was obstructed by the head of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (fuck you forever, Scott Lloyd and your creepy period tracking), she did eventually receive her abortion with the help of the @ACLU, activists, and @JanesDueProcess.
So today we thought we’d tweet out her statement from the time as a reminder of why we fight so hard for everyone to get the abortion care they need:
