"Umar didnt take the Church of Holy Sepulchre"

This is not an appropriate example to draw an analogy to #AyasofyaCamii for a number of reasons:

1. Islamic law any property that becomes a masjid cannot be decommissioned unless it is being replaced with better in the same spot.
2. Muhammad Al Fatih remunerated for the property with his own money and the ownership was given to Muslims as a permanent endowment. The title is recorded and saved in Turkish museums.
3. Ibn Al Qayyim writes, "Ultimately the decision is given to the Muslim ruler to assess what is more appropriate."

Muhammad Al Fatih saw it appropriate, majority of Turks saw it appropriate, & the world will still be able to visit it with archaeology intact.
4. Fact Greece, Italy, Spain destroyed masjids (Ottoman and Cordoban) and made them churches and dont let Muslims pray in them while they are UNESCO protected while Muslims own this propery via official license while some are crying foul... please go cry foul at double standards.
5. Some of these same European countries dont allow for new masjids to be built at official capacity and discriminate against Muslims while Turkey has and always will maintain plurality and freedom of worship.

A blind eye to bigotry and Islamophobia.
Here's the title of ownership from Muhammad Al Fatih for #AyasofyaCamii

They have receipts.
