Our generation has an immense responsibility as it has to confront this gigantic storm of obscenity coming from the West. This storm in the form of films and other media is deforming the meaning of Romance.
THIS THREAD features some Real Romance between Prophet ﷺ and Aisha R.A:
When prophet ﷺ was asked in public about most beloved person to him , he replied “Aisha”. It was then asked “and among men?”, prophet ﷺ did not say “Abubakar” directly rather he referred to him as “Aisha’s father” to highlight his love for Aisha.
At that time, people wouldn’t even praise their wives, expressing love was far from it. Prophet ﷺ broke that tradition of ignorance. Prophet ﷺ affectionately called Aisha R.A “Humaira” (the Rosy cheeked one).
Aisha R.A used to ask Prophet ﷺ to describe his love for her and he would say “Like a strong binding knot” The more you tug, the stronger it gets, in other words. Often she would ask, “How ‘s the knot?” Prophet ﷺ would say, “As strong as the first day (you asked).”
On one instance, Aisha R.A was staring at prophet ﷺ as he was fixing his shoes. When prophet ﷺ noticed and asked about it, she responded, “If Abu-Bukhair (Poet) saw you, he would know that his poem was written for you!”
When prophet ﷺ asked what did he (the poet) say, she recited a poem of Abu-Bukhair for him, “If you looked to the majesty of the moon, it twinkles and lights up the world for everybody to see.”
So the Prophet ﷺ got up, walked to Aisha, kissed her between the eyes, and said, “Wallahi Ya Aisha! (By God o Aisha) you are like that to me and more!”
When Aisha R.A was was asked: “What did the Prophet use to do in his house?” She replied, “He used to keep himself busy serving his family.” Also, Prophet ﷺ used to go walking with Aisha (RA) at night while talking with each other.
Aisha R.A said, “I raced him (prophet ﷺ) on foot and I outran him, but when I gained some weight, I raced him again and he outran me. The Prophet ﷺ said: This is for that race.”
Prophet ﷺ said, “Don’t hurt me regarding Aisha, as the divine inspirations didn’t come to me when I’m in the blanket of any of wives except Aisha.” During lunch, prophet ﷺ would take a sip from the same spot Aisha R.A sipped. and ate from the same spot Aisha R.A ate.
Despite his busy schedule with his immense responsibility of conveying Allah’s final message and dealing with the state affairs, prophet ﷺ would find time for Aisha R.A in the form of special moments for her in which he would only think about the things she loved.
Once Aisha R.A’s necklace got misplaced in the midst of a desert while prophet ﷺ was leading a whole convoy. Knowing how upset she was he halted advance of the convoy and ordered that they would have a sojourn at that place for a night.
Prophet ﷺ 's relationship with Aisha R.A’s came to a worldly end as he drew his last breath in Aisha R.A’s arms. On his deathbed, he asked for Siwak (A herbal brush) which he used after Aisha R.A chewed it up for him. Aisha R.A’s chamber became prophet ﷺ’s tomb in Medina.
Remember, Islamic discourse on Romance, unlike Western liberal discourses, considers relationship a ‘sacred covenant’ in the form of marriage, and not just a material need. Spouses are accountable to each other as well as Allah. This honours and beautifies the relationship.
All instances have been taken from the authentic books of Ahadith (صحاح ستہ) and I did not share references here due to space. Will be glad to provide on query.
