In the same interview on @skynewsarabia:
When Egypt’s @ma7mod_badr said the Turkey is only interested in #Libya as oil and military bases, the Turkish dude’s reply was:
Fact:
Hundred of thousands of Arabs and Muslims have been killed in
🔺Syria
🔺Sudan
🔺Yemen
But they didn’t trigger 1/10 of the reactions we are witnessing now in the war of #Gaza.
Why?
Because, in Gaza, they enemy is non-Arab and non-Muslim.
Let’s stop kidding ourself and have the courage to admit that.
For Islamists, the crime of Israel is not just the “occupation of Palestine”, but the disruption of their grand dream of the resurrection of the Islamic Caliphate.
For Arab nationalists, the crime of Israel is not the “occupation of Palestine”, but the disruption of their dream of one Arab grand nation from the Arabian -Gulf to the Atlantic ocean
I am accused of “justifying occupation”, which is a big fat lie.
My guilt is remembering the long history of bad choices & wasted opportunities.
Remember when hijacking airplanes, killing athletes were the Palestinian answer to Israeli occupation?
Remember when suicide attacks were marketed as the answer to the occupation?
Remember when firing rockets was the innovation of the resistance?
None of the above liberated Palestine.
Why, and how bloody pogrom and kidnapping women and children will?
#Hamas
#Gaza
What is the best of the best outcome for the Palestinians from this current bloody mess?
A ceasefire+ few charity donation+ pledges to rebuilt their homes, which will take months, so they will spend winter in the cold.
How on earth can any one describe that as “a victory”?
#طوفان_الاقصي
At the end of the current confrontation, Hamas leaders will tour Doha and Istanbul, singing the songs of victory, while the ordinary people of Gaza will be homeless and jobless.
But hey, highlighting that apparently makes me a traitor 🤷🏻♀️
#Thread#Iran
If you just tuned in, you will see how Iran's TL is full of images and videos of protests all over the country following the death of #Mahsa_Amini who was accused of improper wearing of Hijab.
Here are few thoughts. 1/
Since I attended late Shah funeral in Egypt, I developed deep interest in Iran, which increased immensely, after I visited the country years ago. Unlike Egyptians, the people of Iran fully understand the pain of living under an Islamists regime and have no illusions about it 2/
Protests against Islamic Republic is not new:
-1999 Students protests
-2009 Presidential election
-2011/12 protests (influenced by Arab spring)
-2018/19 strikes & protests against economic situation
-2021 uprising of thirsty due water shortage
All failed to uproot the regime 3/
Although many in #Egypt expressed sadness for the passing of the Queen, others commented negatively on her legacy, recalling colonialism, the Suez conflict, and the 1956 war 2/
I too, didn’t forget the history of conflicts between the 2 countries.
My late Mum proudly gave me this coin commemorating the withdrawal of British forces in 1956 3/
On #Egypt’s Sisi visit to #Qatar:
This visit signals a start of an era of pragmatism— a post Muslim Brotherhood era 1/
Unlike 2017, the #Muslim#Brotherhood as a group, is severely weakened, and becomes irrelevant to the relations between Qatar and Egypt.
Its fans can mock Sisi’s visit to Doha but their barks mean nothing on the ground 2/
What’s on the agenda in Doha is not just economic relations as Islamists claim, but there are several political topics on the agenda, like #Gaza, #Sudan, and most importantly #Libya 3/
