So-called "gross human rights abuses" against Uighurs ＆"forced sterilization＆abortion" of Muslim women are sheer lies. From 1978 to 2018, population of Uighurs in Xinjiang doubled, from 5.55 to 11.68 million. This ironclad evidence proves above claims do not hold water. 2/10
Xinjiang has sustained serious attacks at the hands of terrorists and extremists. In recent years, in face of the grave situation, counter-terrorism and de-radicalisation measures have been adopted in Xinjiang in accordance with law. 3/10
These effectively contained the number and frequency of violent terrorist activities, and provided maximum protection to people of all ethnic groups in the province from terrorism and extremism. 4/10
As of today, there has been no violent terrorist attacks in Xinjiang for 3+years consecutively; Security and law＆order have been greatly improved; The rights ＆interests of people of all ethnic groups are effectively safeguarded; People feel fulfilled, happier＆more secure. 5/10
Life expectancy has increased from 30 in 1949, when the P.R.China was founded, to 72.35 today. Despite impact of #Covid19, first-quarter GDP growth rate of Xinjiang was the highest among all provinces in China and 6.6 percentage points higher than the national average. 6/10
Turning a blind eye to economic＆social progress in Xinjiang ＆to the fact that counter-terrorism＆de-radicalisation measures are completely legitimate＆lawful, some Western politicians, including those from UK, have been spreading the “lie of a century” about Xinjiang. 7/10
This fully reveals their bias＆hostility towards China. The Chinese people, not British or other Western politicians, are best positioned to pass judgment on the human rights condition in China. 8/10
We urge these politicians to discard tinted glasses＆double standards, view human rights progress＆counter-terrorism achievements in Xinjiang from objective＆fair perspective. We advise them to use time＆energy for dealing with violations of human rights in their countries. 9/10
If the UK imposes sanctions on Chinese institutions or individuals in total disregard of the facts, China will respond resolutely and the UK will have to bear all the consequences. 10/10
