Abiy was, and still is, manipulating the people by creating problems & later on blatantly portraying himself as the solution provider for the problems such as the ongoing issues with the #GERD. This is not only an insult to the people’s intelligence but utterly unacceptable. 2/9
There was no need for Abiy to put “the filling start date for the #GERD” for negotiation. Also, he shouldn't have allowed the likes of the US & the World Bank to meddle in the GERD saga (see below) and subsequently complicate matters for the GERD. 3/9
It's perplexing to see Ethiopia's leaders attempt to claim a victory over the filling of the #GERD. The leaders cannot be trusted considering they were releasing misleading information & also usually changing their views to suit situations (see below) 4/9
Starting to fill a dam is key milestone but it shouldn't be celebrated as if it's the incumbent’s achievement i.e. the incumbent is the root cause of the predicament the #GERD is in at present. The govt should refrain from hoodwinking the people if it's to be taken seriously. 5/9
If @AbiyAhmedAli is sincere and wants to be taken seriously by the people of Ethiopia and other relevant parties, he needs to start to be transparent on any agreements the government signed since Abiy took office. Abiy should also unreservedly apologize for: 6/9
