Reading Mary L. Trump's biography of the Pretender in Washington has nothing to do with the photos I am presenting today, but it is striking a chord in my life, causing me to wonder what made me turn out to be the man that I am.
I see my therapist in the mid-afternoon. We will likely discuss how my brother made it his duty to break my self esteem and, with my mother and father, possibly push me to the brink of psychosis. Some say that I shouldn't accept so much responsibility...
...for my decisions, but I disagree. I see my condition as punishment for being a failure, a loser, and it is well deserved. What sixty two year old man focuses his energies on experiments in photography such as the tap water pictures he has given his energies to lately?

What I fault myself for the most is that I didn't fight harder for myself and my dreams. I would never have ended up in this trash eddy that is my life if I had had a little more strength. My family detected my weakness and they tried to strengthen me through abuse.
This almost never works, of course. I reached with hope towards books on positive thinking, but these weren't real. It wasn't until I was in my thirties that I learned that my family wasn't trustworthy. It was in my twenties that I realized my condition was mine.
Right now I am lying on bed with a slight pain in my left chest and the bite of anxiety on my breastbone. I live in clutter. I am a mess.
My photography, as ineffective as it is, keeps me alive along with Lynn and the cats. But as much as it delights me to take a picture and then improve it, it is not enough tonight.
