President @JoeBiden is visiting NY and NJ today to talk about #infrastructure in the wake of flooding. Talk that includes more $ for sea walls, levees, stormwater drains. But to solve flooding, we have to consider how #water behaves.
It can come from the sky, from the sea, and even from up from underground due to hydrological pressure. #ClimateCrisis is showing us a quantity of water our #infrastructure is not built to handle. B/c our concrete water infrastructure is inflexible.
Will @JoeBiden talk about natural #infrastructure? #wetlands, floodplains, and marshes are absorbent and flexible -- and also STORE CARBON to reduce climate change. Yet cities including NYC are building new development on filled-in wetlands.

Lies people tell about #Water
Part: 1

"We can find charlatans peddling #snakeoil in a wide variety of spheres, but there are quite a lot of lies that are told specifically about water. It's such a ubiquitous substance, everywhere around us, and inside of us,
and since we need it to survive,it's fertile grounds for #pseudoscience. What kinds of lies do people tell about water? There are many colorful examples we will cover, but this first part will focus on the main #conspiracy surrounding water & that is the fluoridation of tap water.
From government mind control to neurotoxic effects, there is no shortage of #misinformation associated with this incredible achievement of modern society, so let's run through the most common talking points and see what they're all about, shall we?

After spending 7 long days at 'One of the hottest places on #earth' #Jacobabad #Sindh, I am back to #Karachi with heavy heart. Being journalist traveling, visiting and exploring new places is really a fun, but I feel so sad after this trip.
#IfYouLoveSindhVisitSindh
During this trip I met with all those people who work work under scorching sun, worst victim to #ClimateChange including #farmers #harvestors brick knil workers, traffic wardens, sanitary workers, lady health workers, polio workers, herders and others.
#IfYouLoveSindhVisitSindh
These workers/public servant are provided any shades/cooling place during afternoons, no drinking water, no duty hour relaxations (from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM) and they are forced to rot under scorching sun.

Water Cycle Steps: A Complete Guide for Students earthandhuman.org/water-cycle-st…

#watercycle #water
The total volume of water on Earth is estimated to be about 333 million cubic miles. Of which, 96% is seawater. Even for freshwater, over 68% is formed by ice and glaciers.
Underground water makes up 30% of this water. This means above-ground water sources such as rivers or lakes only make up about 1.2% of the total supply.

"The Dry" could have been just another murder mystery film, but what made it interesting was how it weaved in the #ecological crisis in #Australia - #bushfires & #droughts - with the social crisis in #rural farming communities & small towns.
The swirling dust devils, the dried up #rivers & creeks, correlates with a societal collapse. The washing of a car with waste #water, the red crud that emerges out of shower heads, all narrating how a #rain starved society has hit its #ecological limit.
It is also about the decline of the farming community in #Australia. A telling comment in the film - an old #farmer worrying about how his #land will be tilled after he is gone: "Farms with no people. Imagine that. No need for towns. No need for any of us."
