There is some good guidance for #bced from the PHAC. Recommendations include, smaller classes, physical distancing (including within learning groups) and #NMM for staff and students 10 and older.

Here are some other important takeaways: 1/
The PHAC recognizes the need for consultation with staff, students and parents and enhanced communication at all levels. (This is important both provincially and at the district level. Unions need to be included in all planning discussions from the beginning.) 2/
Accommodations are recommended for staff &students who are medically compromised. While it's true that #bced has always made medical accommodations, it is also true that they haven't never been required on this scale. Teachers should also have access to #COVID19 related leaves.3/
In terms of student absences, a flexible approach is recommended. Planning should include how students' educational needs are addressed, given the potential of frequent of longer absences, as well as school connectedness strategies. (Additional staff will be needed to support) 4/
The guidelines have a strong emphasis on strategies to reduce stigma and discrimination. This supports @bctf call for a focus on equity and inclusion, including trauma-informed in-service, provided for everyone in #bced, as well as the need for additional counsellors. 5/
The rationale for NNMs is that masks and face shields play a role in reducing transmission, and are an additional layer of protection. The need for teaching proper usage and cleaning is identified. Also addressed are those who should not wear NNM. 6/
Modifications to the delivery of education programs is recommended to limit the numbers of individuals within school spaces. The size of classrooms, and the number of students, their needs and abilities to promote physical distancing, should all be considered. 7/
