Monday night in Alberta park for a #BlackLivesMatter event. 8/10 
Numbers are hard to judge, because it’s dark out. In fact, if this night-time get together hadn’t just started chanting “black lives matter,” it mighta been hard to even notice the crowd from outside of the park. Except for the grilling by the sidewalk and the snack table lights
And the pervasive smell of really excellent barbecue. Cuz that’s everywhere
And the crowd is on the move.
One of the things we’ve learned from these protests is that chants come and go, but in Portland“ACAB” keeps coming back around. Just now the megaphone is warning that there is a police presence at the precinct. Someone else yells “of course?! It’s a precinct!?”
As the crowd approaches the n precinct, the chants converge on “say his name: Quanice Hayes! who killed him? PPB!”
Chant “no good cops in a racist system!”
Arriving at the North Portland precinct the LRAD is going, I cannot hear it

The riot line is greeted by a chant of “stolen land, stolen people” and the LRAD is saying something. Nobody seems able to make it out
Presumably @OregonGovBrown had to authorise the deployment of Oregon State Police. They’ve been at nearly every action of the last few weeks, including for the PPA, a private building.
When Governor Brown sent in OSP it was stated that it was to support a withdrawal of federal fleeces. It is interesting that they are now just replacing the PPB for protest policing
DJ LBRAD is very excited to tell people not to “engage in criminal acts!” Since he didn’t list standing around chanting “hands up don’t shoot” that would imply the protesters are currently in the clear
Curious whether the flag that was just brought by protesters and burned will meet the very Low Bar that PPB has for declaring things unlawful.

LBRAD is now telling the crowd to “stop throwing eggs at officers” and referring to the throwing of eggs as Criminal Activity. The crowd is telling the police “quit your job” and “black lives matter”
I would estimate the number of eggs on the pavement near the feet of police as less than 1 carton.

The unlawful assembly declaration is met with some more eggs. And a water bottle. Estimated number of eggs now greater than or equal to one carton.

A very quiet group heading east a couple of blocks north of killingsworth. The precinct is that way, but also so are everyone’s cars
And apparently that quiet group is still an unlawful assembly
Police are circling from all directions trying to break up people as they attemp to head east where they came from
Officers coming from the west. Hard to follow dispersal orders to go west
Announcing people should get out of the street. I am very confused
As there was no defined boundaries to the area the police declared closed, the police now are just circling and forming riot lines at random points.

The police do a better job of blocking streets then the protesters. LRAD says leave vicinity of both precinct which

For those wondering we are now over half a mile from the north Portland precinct
At this point patrol vehicles are circling through n portland and yelling at or blooping their sirens at any group that appears to be moving in any direction with purpose.

A small group is on the sidewalk in front of the precinct with Black activists singing “your mama hates you” at the officers. We are heading out, but @PDocumentarians @MrOlmos and @TeebsGaming and @bethnakamura are onsite

Tonight the PPB (with support from OSP) continued a well-established strategy of dispersing large groups, without actually setting and controlling a perimeter at any point. They did this with tear gas back at the end of May, today it was mostly “dynamic” charges of riot lines.
The PPB also held firm to their stance that essentially everything can be considered unlawful, declaring an unlawful assembly because some eggs got thrown, and repeatedly told journalists they would be charged with disorderly conduct for stepping off the sidewalk.
Lastly: while the actions have become pretty repetitive, there’s still inspiring moments and fun/silly art every night.
