#storytimethread -King Varaguna Pandya wanted to create a life-size Natarajar,so ordered to sculptor(Sthapathi)to do so in panchaloha metal.Despite his continuous efforts,sthapathi was unable to make an idol taller than 3 feet.King gave him some more time to work on the idol

King warned Sculptor that if he did not accomplish the task,his head would be chopped off.As the deadline approached,the worried and frantic sculptor prayed to Bhagwan Shiva for help.

Shiva & Parvathi came to his house in the form of an elderly couple & asked for little water to drink.Sculptor was engrossed in his work,out of frustration,told them to drink molten metal -Pancha lohak.They drank n instantly turned into a beautiful idol of Nataraja &Sivakami.

There is a mole on left arm & a scar on leg of Nataraja,which was caused by king who tried to test
idol &it began to bleed,are held up as evidences of such a divine transformation.We can see this even now.This Nataraja deity & sivagami never leaves sanctum.

Stone inscriptions in this temple date back to Chola period King Gandarathithan,his wife Sembian Mahadevi.

Simple temple without any Gopuram towers in the entrance.
