One of the most Orwellian things about Britain is that one of its most eminent "liberal" journalists, @DAaronovitch, who enforces state "anti-racist" ideology by telling people how they should & shouldn't FEEL & THINK about RACE, is a recipient of the #OrwellPrize.
#DavidAaronovitch, who works for #TheTimes & the #BBC, & is thus very much a part of the British establishment, lacks awareness of his role as a minion of Big Brother, who embraced a form of anti-racism which goes to opposite but equally insane extremes of Nazi racial ideology.
I pick on @DAaronovitch, because I know him a little & he is such a typical representative of the British establishment, in its positive, rational & liberal manifestation, & its Orwellian & illiberal manifestation. Doublethink blinds him to the contradictions.
The important thing to understand, in order to recognise the Orwellian nature of the British state, is that Big Brother is a lot more subtle than portrayed by GeorgeOrwell in 1984. He embraces many liberal values, as well as anti-fascism & anti-racism.
