Reports coming out of Bamako, #Mali indicate that the mutiny seems to be evolving into a coup. Latest news is President Kieta has been arrested. This is sure to trigger the @_AfricanUnion #PSC AU_PSD to consider action under Art 7(1)(G) of the PSC Protocol.
Here is the reaction of the @_AfricanUnion Commission Chairperson @AUC_MoussaFaki on the unfolding situation. This reaction could be a prelude to a meeting of the PSC on the situation.
There is convergence of views in early responses from ECOSAS & AU. Should coup succeed against the background of the protests that have been ongoing, it would be interesting to see if the AU/ECOWAS engagement would follow model of 2012 coup in #Mali or #BurkinaFaso or #Sudan.
